How's Don Imus doing?

Just out of curiousity how is Don Imus doing? It's been quite some time since I heard chatter about him since his morning show was resurrected.

Caught the show on RFD recently. WOW!!!!! Is this the worst radio show I've ever heard (seen). Imus looks like he can't wait to get out of there. And his cast fo characters are at best embarrassing. Sad... I never liked Imus, but tried to like the show... couldn't.

With Bernie muzzled from what he used to do, a tighter program schedule, new lame sidekicks, and continuous numerous technical issues, the show has lost much of its punch. His interviews are still good.

TERRIBLE ! Never was good in his radio life ! KING OF ALL MEDIA RULES !

Frankly, it is better than it has been in years. By keeping the show tighter, Imus does not ramble on about topics of no interest to anyone but him. Interviews are as crisp as ever and the side kicks are not lame. Maybe not the sharpest knives in the drawer, but they bring something to the table.

The technical problems are an issue. But Imus had similar problems with MSNBC. It gives him something to rant about, which always pleases him.

Having Warner Wolf as a regular on the show, at set times, helps the flow. Imus is not allowed to get caught up in a subject and ignore the clock.

Not allowing Bernie's totally out-of-line bits has made the show more appealing. This is no longer a locker room show with jerks being jerks. It is current event driven with humor. It brings to WABC's morning drive what Big Dan brought to afternnon drive in years gone by. A program for adults, not juveniles.

I think there are too many voices and frankly I think the new staff members bring nothing to the table. Tony is by far the most objectionable with his very obvious "step n fetchit" humor. I find it insulting and wonder if others do. If they must be there I'd rotate them on a daily basis. I think Warner brings a lot to the table as do Lou and Bernie. The interviews are very good but there is too much repetition. I hear Warner bits on an hourly basis (and they are laughed at like it is the first time they've been heard) and I swear I heard an interview end Friday's show that I'd heard twice before this week.

I strarted listening to Imus the first day he came on WNBC in 1971. He is a sad shadow of himself. He can't complete a thought or a sentance. He can't allow anyone else to do the same. It's as if WABC shuts off for four hours. The discussion of current events is not focused. No consistency. No there there. It seems that nobody ever says what they really think. They just sit around and swap politically correct Katie Couric viewpoints. And the news; WABC was always ahead of the news stations. They don't really pay attention to events. Now; forget about it! If something happens in AM drive you won't hear it on WABC till after 10am. Charles has become lazy, Bernie just sounds angry, the other players aren't funny. The traffic and weather folks don't sound happy. The only good segment is Warner Wolf.
I'm down in Delaware so I'm not privy to the street talk up in the Big Apple, but to me he sounds like an old man who has a wet spot in his crotch and tobacco stained teeth. It's a damned shame that he is stinking up the air waves. The guests sound like they are Casper Citron Algonquin Club wannabees. How many times can he have Jay Severin, Mike Barnicle, and Frank Rich and those other pompous peacocks from the NYT on the show. My eye muscles get tired from rolling my eyes from the limo lib viewpoints expressed. I feel sorry for Phil Boyce having to deal with this boobus addition to his station from idiodic upper management. I find it a difficult listen. Fortunately for WABC, there isn't much competition for talk programming in the Northeast. I find myself listening to Bill Bennett on WNTP more and more.

To anyone 50+ years of age who still cracks mic for a liveilhood who hasen't
secured a six figure income, look into the future. If you want to keep doing it
for the love of radio, go ahead. But you might look into outsourcing yourself to
customer service for one of the big corporations that employ voice talent.

Otherwise, rejoice that a brother in arms still packs the gear and entertains those
of us who don't get served elsewhere.

I don't mind the oxygen jokes or the other maladies that come with age. If the
day comes he starts talking about wearing depends it won't bother me one whit.

Meanwhile that thing flashing before your eyes...is your Life.
