How's this for a rock core set of artists

While an obvious improvement over K-Rocks urban decay playlist, has real alternative rock died? Note there is no nu-metal/grundge artists in that core of artists. I'm a steadfast believe that the only way rock will save itself is by making the music safe for both women and educated men to listen to. Additionally, there is alot of exciting, new-wavy sounding music coming out of both the UK and the US right now, so there is a definite pipeline of fresh music to keep the format fresh. Given that no rock station in New York has really succeeded as an active rock station since the 70's, could an classic rock station with indie imaging succeed?

There's a bunch of those bands that have been around for longer than 10 years: No Doubt, Blink, Garbage, Hole, Weezer, RHCP, Foo Fighters, Everclear, Offspring, U2. If I misinterpreted your rationale and it was no SONG older than 10 years, I think you're also missing out. Weezer's Blue Album came out in '94 (making it 13), Foo Fighters debut in '95 (which many modern rock stations still don't give enough time) and Offspring's Smash was '94 also. If I also may add:

Great additions, specifically Tool and Muse. Finger Eleven and Panic! both fall into the pipeline category, which speaks to the strength of the format. If only mainstream market radio programmers got it!
