Huck Trashes Rush

Huckabee seems to be setting new standard on how to comment on some one without demonizing them. In that spirit, I think your SUBJECT line is a bit over the top. Huckabee doesn't TRASH Limbaugh. He criticizes, he chides, he lectures, he calls him on the carpet, he points out, he remarks. Trash Him... he does not.

I'm not sure I am ready to be this kind to Mr. Huckabee, but is he going to try to re-invent Talk Radio with new expectations?

One can only dream.

I WONDER HOW HANNITY IS GOING TO HANDLE the Rush v Huckabee situation. Huckabee is on FOX and Rush is linked to his radio syndicator I believe.

It's possible to be friends with both. Hannity seems to get along with most radio guys.

Same as when O'Reilly had his radio show, however he handled that.

I understand that despite Hannity being more of a lightweight over the air, he is great with affiliate relations. Very hands on with them.

Has a list of Huckabee's stations been made available yet?

Time will tell if Dickey is right, but I don't see a lot of impact to Rush.

I'll second the motion for a list of affiliates for the new Huckabee show. Only thing on ABC/Cumulus website is "175+ affiliates, including four of the top 10."

Only four of the top ten, hm? And we know one, New York City, only two out of three hours and they're delayed until the evening.

There's most likely a reason Cumulus isn't releasing anything but the raw number of affiliates: the list consists of a lot of stations that are not the talk leaders in their markets, and even at that, just like WOR in NYC, many will be delaying the show until the evening hours, and not clearing all three hours.

Any show has to build. But there's been too much hullabaloo about this. The expectations have been set high.

There isn't even an official website for the new Huckabee radio show yet, let alone an official affiliate list. If you go to radio.mikehuckabee.com, it still largely reflects his work for the "Huckabee Report" piece he's been doing for awhile.

Mike Huckabee can be erudite, but he is BORING as skim milk. In order to achieve the status of "appointment radio" (listeners make a point to want to turn on your show wherever they are), you have to have a schtick...you have to be entertaining. It is just like NPR -- you know it is good for you but it is boring as hospital food. Rush is tasty fast food...bad for your health but damn it can taste good!

What you are expressing is YOUR taste in content, your PREFERENCE.

Huckabee radio will not be appointment radio for me, but he has the style, the accent, the vocabulary that appeals to the "religious right". They find him to be charming. What is skim milk to you may be an ice cream sandwich to them.

You find NPR having all the excitement of hospital food, but it is my ice cream sandwich!

Rush is your ice cream sandwich but for me Rush is like that Ozarks treat everybody talks about but nobody can stand the smell: "Poke Salat and Wild Onions". (I haven't seen a Poke Weed in 40 or 50 years and it still gives my nose the shivers.)

I'll bet Huckabee knows about "Poke Salat".

radio-info reports today that while about 200 stations may be carrying him, some of the big Cumulus guns like WLS and WABC have no room for him. In New Bedford MA he gets 2 hours of the 3; supp. in Worcester MA, only 1 hour. Many stations will delay him...yes, he may find a niche (the likes of O'Reilly and Franken took on the same time slot).

While Huck has his fans and many may enjoy him, he has his critics on the right for various
issues (the usual "Republican in Name Only" label). While Huck may have helped derail Romney's
hopes in 2008, he didn't have enough oomph to overtake McCain and thus it wasn't
Huck v. Obama in the finals that year.

hmmmm.......calling a professional activist a slut, or having your boss call in to your show as your very first fake seminar caller.....I wonder which is worse? ???
