Huckabee Show ends!

Show ends before the end of the year I'm reading. Guess the 12 Noon slot on WABC is still open as of 1/1/14!

Smart money is on Dennis Miller taking that slot on WABC.

WestwoodOne - soon to be a Cumulus property - announced yesterday that his show will be moved to a 12-3 timeslot come January, with multiple Cumulus talkers clearing his show in place of Huckabee's.

Dennis Miller probably takes over. Miller is moving his show to compete with Rush starting next year. What a coincidence!

Initial eports from with in Cumulous had a local show taking the 12-3 slot. Perhaps the cards flip and WABC moves local and Wor moves national for part of the day

I find it strange that nothing has been announced for the post Rush time slot. In reality it's just a couple of weeks away. Typical Cumulus??? Do they have a plan?? Not a good track record for Cumulus on the program side. They get stuck paying IMUS full price because WOR enters the picture, the great anti-Rush Huckabee Show is about to be gone, and America's Correspondent Gerald can't cut it in the syndication game! Who's career do the all knowing Dickey Brothers screw next??? TIME to cut more staff....that they know how to do!! Goodbye Scott and Todd?

I don't have much hope of seeing anything worthwhile on the WABC schedule in a few weeks but in fairness to Cumulus we don't know what they have planned and they're not obligated to reveal it. Maybe their strategy is to keep it secret.

It's possible that that mutual parting of the ways between Huckabee and Cumulus culminated because Huckabee was told he would not be Rush's replacement on WABC and other affiliates. That would have been a smart move by Cumulus, IMO.

someone on one of these message boards claimed Noam Laden was getting Noon----3 pm on WABC.
But , that may not be true. You know how much false info there is on---line. Not to mention
how many personal attacks there are on--line. Its sad.

IIRC, someone said there was a rumor that Noam Layden might get noon-3 pm.

I enjoy Layden's early morning show but he would be a complete departure from Rush in that time slot. I could see 3-6 pm but that's already reserved for Michael Savage. If WABC plans to add a local show it would make more sense to do it in PM Drive.

The real question is does Cumulus even know what they're going to do? I got 5 bucks says that 1/1/14 there will be a fill in show and the same thing will happen well into 2014. Look at how long it's taken the Dickeys to staff NASH!!!

appears it may be--------Dennis Milller on WABC Noon to 3 pm.
Millller often makes no sense to me & often seems to mumble off mic. Of course, the
same can be said of Imus & others.

Dennis Miller, really?

The guy was funny on HBO but as a 3 hour radio show it's just a total borefest. I can't see him toppling Rush. Say what you want about Rush, but the guy is a radio pro and knows the mechanics of being on the air. This is something that gets repeatedly lost on the higher ups at all the networks, is that you can't take a guy with no experience and throw him on the air just because he is entertaining somewhere else. A 3 hour daily radio show, especially talk, is a lot to do. Way different than a recorded hour a week on TV.

There is a reason that Howard, Rush, Imus and Opie and Anthony among others did well besides the fact they could entertain. They knew the mechanics of doing radio and holding an audience. Nobody did the tease and break better than Howard, stringing along those quarter hours, keeping them tuned in.

These "insta-syndicated to 200 markets" hosts just don't have that finesse.

People think breaking the rules is what it's about. The reality is knowing the rules and the reason behind and knowing when it makes sense to break them is what makes good radio. Newbys know nothing about that!
