Hudson Valley = Arbitron Market #38

The new market will be surveyed twice yearly.

Despite the market rank, this will be a diary market, not a PPM market.

So, not only will they not do PPM-- they will treat as a 100+ market and survey only twice a year. I wonder why?

I wonder how small city stations like those in Middletown, Newburg or more certainly the even smaller Orange County towns can compete for market share with the much larger, more populated , more affluent ones in Westchester.

The main reason for this is the get Westchester it own 'book' back so to speak. It hasn't had one since is was dissolved several years ago. Its been embedded in the NYC book since then.

There is a big difference between the stations in Rockland/Westcheser and Orange County where the Poughkeepsie stations start to come in.

There should have been a Lower Hudson Valley; Putnam, Rockland, Westcheser and a new Mid-Hudson; Ulster, Orange, Dutchess. No more Poughkeepsie or Newburgh-Middletown.

What exactly is counted in the Albany-Schenectady-Troy market? Is Mohawk Valley (Fulton/Montgomery), Columbia/Greene or Glens Falls also counted?
