Hudson Valley Radio Predictions - 2024

I haven’t posted my radio predictions in a very long time, and here is my radio predictions for the Hudson Valley in 2024.

My prediction is that maybe Bill Williams needs to be gone by WBPM in middays to focus on traffic reports on other stations in Albany.

And also WBPM needs to get rid of 60’s music to focus on less 70’s with lots of 80’s and 90’s music just like WCBS-FM with Race Taylor in middays. 60’s music on WBPM is now considered as oldies.

Plus, WGHQ needs to bring in a lot of DJ’s to the station, because WGHQ has been running jockless for two years, but it needs to have DJ’s whether if it’s either live or being voice tracking.

And of course, WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” needs to update the format, because it’s getting really tired, but it needs more 70’s, and more 80’s to make it sound better than what you hear on WABC like Cousin Brucie, Vinny Medugno, Tony Orlando and Joe Piscopo, but it needs more syndicated programming on weekends like the “Sounds of Sinatra” hosted by the late, great Sid Mark where it will feature nothing but the music of Frank Sinatra, and of course, add “American Standards By The Sea” with Dick Robinson on weekends, because I love the show where he plays nothing but Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald and many other great artists. This would be a good fit for an oldies station playing standards to make it less stressful. And for Saturday nights, get rid of “Godard’s Gold” and bring back Wolfman Jack to Saturday nights, because I haven’t listened to the Wolfman since 2018.

And on other hand, there’s WALL that they got rid of Scott Shannon’s “America’s Greatest Hits” show, because it was his last show back on New Year’s Eve of 2023, but no word on what show that will be replacing with at the moment.

Those are my predictions. Any thoughts?
