Huge Dance Hit in France...Why not here

Im talking about Bennasi-Bring the Noise, this song is pretty old, like from late last summer, but all the France Dance stations seem to be playing it as a power, its even on Voltage FM, and they are just a Dance Friendly CHR.

Actually a lot of the CHR/Pop stations in France play a good amount of Dance music. France's biggest musical export in recent years has been House music from the likes of Daft Punk, David Guetta, and Bob Sinclar. The kids are dancing to the sounds of tektonik, and you see a lot of it top the national Pop charts:

"Bring The Noise" made the top 20 in France awhile back if memory serves me right. I've always been a fan though of Ferry Corsten vs. Public Enemy, way more then the Benassi version.

I do like the Ferry Corston version, though not quite as well.

Fun Radio in France is an Awesome station, I find the one in Belgium to be a little less appealing compared to Belgium's other Dance station's, especially RGR FM, and Top Radio. Crazy FM is pretty decent too, but they were better a few years ago.

My girlfriend and I recently spent the weekend in Belgium, and I'm trying to remember the name of the station we were listening to in the car. Studio Brussells maybe? There were a couple other stations we liked..one called "Donna FM" and "Radio 538" (tho that maybe from the Netherlands)

In our hotel in Brussells, one of the TV channels was MTV-France. Awesome music.

I've found so many good songs on those French playlists.

like..

Tom Snare's "Waterfalls 2008", Jakarta "One Desire", and there was another one that sounded like the intro to U2's "New Years Day". I can't remember the name of that one.

France's Fun Radio is also doing pretty good ratings-wise, though definitely doesnt command the kind of ratings as heritage EHR, Energy Radio (NRJ), or famed Hip Hop station Skyrock.
As for Belgium's Fun Radio, I agree they're not as good as RGR or Top Radio, but keep in mind they're more Dance leaning then their French counterpart, and keep in mind that Fun Radio caters to the French speaking part of Belgium (Wallonia) whereas our beloved RGR FM can be heard in parts of the Dutch-Flemish part of Belgium (Flanders).

Cartman, I've heard Candi's version of Ride On Time and it's just okay compared to the number one smash hit from Black Box back in 1989:

The funny thing is that the song should be called "Right On Time". That's what she's singing in the original Disco record ("Love Sensation" from Loleatta Holloway). Black Box are Italians and their English wasnt very good so they mistook it for ride on time ;)

Studio Brussels is an excellent station. It plays a lot of Modern Rock, but also some quality EDM and Hip Hop, and has some great techno and House shows hosted by some of Belgium's leading DJs. As for Donna FM, it's a recurrent friendly EHR (Euopean Hit Radio).
Radio 538, to me, was at its best in the 90s. There's a bit too much talk, too many odd recurrents and Gold titles at times, and it's not as Dance friendly as it once was. Then again, it is the most listened to radio station in Holland with about 11 percent of the audience share, and the radio landscape is way more diverse now then it was in the mid 90s. For one thing, Slam FM didn't exist back then. Nowadays Slam FM is doing pretty well in its target audience - 12-25 year olds, and cumes over a million listeners per week.

I thought that Slam FM was a great station. When I picked up my rental car at the airport, it came in real strong on 91FM I believe. Then as I drove away from Amsterdam it faded out. It wasnt until my last day in Apeldoorn that I found out that Slam has a simulcast there on 97 or 98 FM.

If Slam FMs target demo is that young, that explains that Cheesy Lollipop song I heard on there last night, (HINT), not the Hip Hop song thats huge in the states right now, that songs pretty decent. This song I heard was soooooo Cheesy,,,,, Worse than Radio Disney, and its POP, not dance, or hip hop.

Wouldnt you agree that Crazy Fm was better just a few years ago when they played more Hard Dance, still a good house leaning station though. RGR doesnt seem to play quite as much Hard Dance as they used to either, but they still have a killer playlist, almost every song is a banger. Tempo FM is more Euro Dance and Rhythmic Pop, but its just on a small signal compared to the other stations in Belgium that cover the whole Flemish Region. I think Top Radio is the biggest, with like 21 signals, or around that number.

Actually, there's quite a few stations in Europe targetting 12-25 year olds.
I'd be curious to know what that "Lollipop" song you were referring to.
Crazy FM was indeed better a couple of years back, but its still pretty good. I think RGR FM is playing less Hard Dance for a couple of reasons: the audience might be burned out on it in Belgium, perhaps the quality of hard dance records has gone down (you dont hear too many UK Hardhouse or Hard Trance records either nowadays), and RGR is now on 9 frequencies that even touch upon parts of Antwerp and Brussels.
Top Radio is definitely the biggest of Belgium's Dance stations, with 25 freuqncies. Wanna see these stations coverage maps?

Studio Brussels:

And from Holland here's the coverage maps for Radio 538:

And for Slam FM:

Thanks for the coverage maps, did you see on the english translation on RGR fm it lists reception tips.

Looks like radio 538 covers a good chunk of Belgium too, including Antwerp, it looks like you might be able to get a fringe signal of Slam fm in Antwerp too.

Looks like RGR and Crazy FM transmitters are all on top of each other, they must be mostly weak signals.
