From the far south Indy Suburbs hear in Martinsville, and just north of Bloomington... 87.7 Smooth Jazz, and a Mexican talking, both stations were fighting. 99.9.. Dance Music, WCPQ CHICAGO,, Dance Factory Radio.. 100.3.. Chicagos Rewind, fighting with KORN and Heartland Coutry in Champaign... 107.5 WGCI CHICAGO, URBAN... 99.1 WSMK.. Rhythmic AC Format,, South Bend, 96.9 Electric 96.9 Paduka KY... 99.3 UNIDENTIFIED CHR playing Keisha TIKI TOK, then faded into a moring show, and I heard them say The City of Batton Rouge... 101.1 Sports Talk,, UNID,, but clear as a bell. 102.9 ..A Katy Perry Song, mixing with Urban,, and then Oldies,, Mojo 102.9,, I know this station isnt far away, but with its power its still a good catch here.. 97.5..UniD cHR..... Power Hits 97.5...KANSAS MAYBE??????????? ??? 107.9 Barely legible Hip Hop fighting with with WNTR, but WNTR was barely affected, you had to park the car just right,, never IDed it....

88.7 Smooth Jazz was probably the LPTV station that calls itself "Chicago's Smooth Jazz". I forget what the calls are. Pretty good signal for 300 watts, though.

101.1 was more than likely WXOS out of St. Louis. 102.9 could have possibly been WXXB in Lafayette, IN or WSOY-FM in Decatur, IL while Katy Perry was playing, then WDHT in the Dayton/Springfield, OH area with urban. As for 107.9...Gr8 is probably right about WJFX in Fort Wayne since Champaign/Urbana's WUIL is temporarily off the air. If that's the case with WJFX, that's a pretty good catch.

I listened to the calssical station 88.1 from St. louis over 88.1 Morristown.

On my tabletop Sangean WR-1 radio w no outside antenna:

WTHI Terre Haute, K99.1(? Where), WIBQ (formerly WPRS (Paris 98.5), and a host of others.

K99.1 was more than likely WHKO out of Dayton, OH. Was the station country?

Yes it was. I was trying based on my reception fo other East stations thinking it was in Champaign but the Danville station may or may not be country.

Also heard WAMZ louder than anything local. The reception of Paris IL was stronger than anything local.

Based on the South Bend catches, I'd guess the 97.5 CHR was WJIM-FM from Lansing, Michigan since it has a big signal and is in the same direction.
107.9 either Fort Wayne, or Urban WENZ/Cleveland, Ohio

Temperature Inversions are caused by warm air layers above cooler air.
This is extremely common from April until October in Indiana. FM stations
can easily be received up to 300 miles away from 10 PM through 10 AM.
This is a DXers delight and a broadcasters nightmare.

In one case, I was just a few miles from my transmitter, yet I was receiving
a station from Michigan. The power was fine at the transmitter. Then, The phone rang. It was the engineer from the Michigan station wondering what the Hell was going on. He was picking up my station on his air monitor and could not get his station. I had to explain, same here. Our stations traded towns for a few hours.

WLFM-LP are the calls for Chicago's 87.7. The station is licensed to Rochelle, IL, but transmits from downtown Chicago.

The Savoy, IL 99.1 (formerly licensed to Danville) is classic country but is named "Wixy Classic 99.1."

The only K 99.1 I know of in this region is the one in Dayton, Ohio. WHKO operates at 50,000 watts on a very tall stick. It regularly appears up here in Lafayette, IN during weather inversions.

99.1 Dayton was a regular weather inversion or not here in Anderson Indiana till a few years ago when the 99.1 Low power FM station out of Muncie signed on. that all but sent K99 to DX status. and another dayton Regular hear that got KO'ed by a Muncie Translator was 102.9. so sad that 88.3 out of Muncie needed a fricken in city translator on 102.9 to carry K-Love. there is a K-Love fest for Anderson Muncie Area. 88.3 and 102.9 Muncie and 101.7 Elwood/Anderson. at least Marion IN should be lucky they havent gotten in on the K-love fest yet LOL
