Hullinger gone from WSB

A source told me that he was listening to Obama's speech even though all WSB employees were instructed to pull their kids out of school due to the horrible socialist message he was proclaiming. Imagine asking kids to take responsibility for themselves and their education that's what the government is for.

In all seriousness, wasn't Hullinger the heir apparent to Scott Slade? With Chris Krok setting the world on fire in Macon and Hullinger gone, where is the "young talent" at WSB? Jordan Graye and Kate McCarthy can only do so much.

Hullinger was and is a pro. A real broadcaster. I hate it that he is gone. I guess I'll have to get used to ANOTHER new voice.

For a few months now I've been meaning to start a thread praising the Hull man. He was so creative that when I heard his intro, it became a "driveway moment" as they say at NPR...meaning I'd stay in the driveway to listen to the whole thing. How in the hell can they get rid of him when he was the only entertaining newscaster they had?

Maybe he will land at WABE. In my opinion, they have a better morning newscast than WSB and they have the only afternoon newscast that I know of.

Jeff said he didn't have a clue why he was let go. Dunno if it was purely budgetary cos he just reupped a contract a few weeks ago. He said it wasn't because of anything he said on air.

Typical radio BS. They signed him to a new contract fully knowing they would fire him in weeks. Why? To extend his no-compete. Lot's of shady people in this business.
But if they wanted to extend his noncompete by doing that, wouldn't they have to keep him on the payroll at least part of that time (at least for any part of that time beyond 6 months or so)? I guess it depends on the terms of his K.

Some enterprising owner could put together a pretty good station with the talent discarded over the past couple years in ATL.

They could...the next task would be to find a viable, listenable AM signal (good luck on that!), or an FM signal that some owner marking time (coughLincoln!cough) or is about to go BK wants to sell on the cheap (so far, nothing doing there either).

I hate that too,he has always been professional, even when he was the sports director at WAGA,he will land on his feet soon.
