Hullinger Joins WSB-AM

I have heard some gossip inside 750- - - Jeff Hullinger is joining WSB. He is going to anchor and report. Does anyone know when he'll be officially on the air? It'll be interesting to hear him on 750.

Could this be a set-up where if WSB goes for (and wins) the broadcast rights of the Falcons after this season, they'll already have their play-by-play man in palce and ready to go? Just a thought.

Very interesting. I think I prefer Wes Durham and Jeff Van Note as a team though. I think they also do a few Tech games together (Doesn't Noter do Color for Kentucky football still?) If WSB gets the rights to the Falcons will this mean the return of the spirited and humorous Car commercials Jeff Van Note and Larry Munson used to do together? And would this mean a return to live sports talk during the evenings for WSB? I'd prefer that over Savage. No matter how brilliant he is I just can't stand his constant screaming.

I liked Hullinger doing the games when they were on WGST. Wes Durham is good, but I don't think he's pro football material, does a great job with Tech though.

Smart move by WSB IF they are going after the Falcons. If not, then somebody's gonna be the third wheel in WSB sports. Wonder what Tony Shiavo thinks about this.

I think Wes Durham is great and Jeff and Wes would make a great team. However, I don't know that he could do both the Tech games and the Falcons for two competing stations. It might be a conflict of inetrest.

I saw the Larry Munson roast and Larry said that Wes, "has the best voice in sports play by play in the nation". That's high praise from Munson. Plus Wes is funny [EDIT] jmho. .

If this is true...may God help us all.

I hope WSB is aware that he was a pain in the ass to WAGA and WGST management. I hope they are aware that he has an attitude about him to the level of Bill O'Reilly.

Lets hope this stays a rumor.

I can't speak for WAGA, but I worked with him at WGST and ran his board on the morning show sometimes and with the Falcons and I never saw that side of him. I found him to be respectful and a good guy. I don't hear any of that from those who worked with him at 640

I worked with Jeff for a couple of years at WAGA...jal41's post is 100% correct. Prima donna to the x power.

Always makes me wonder: why is national talent so much more humble and grounded than local talent -- radio or tv?

Wes Durham does the Falcon radio broadcasts with Dave Archer, not Jeff Van Note. Noter is part of the pre-game show. I will say I miss having JVN as part of the broadcast team, however.

As another GSTer from the era, I concur with that assessment. He really worked hard to improve as a PXP announcer and a morning talent through his tenure there, and he made the best of being at WGST at the time (it was bad, but not nearly as bad as it has since become). I still have and use my promotional "Hullinger in the Morning from the 24 Hour News Center" mug.

He was a great guy to work with at WGST and respectfull to everyone who worked there. He will be a great addition to WSB.

Mike is right. I also worked with Jeff during his tenure at WGST, morning drive. Jeff Hullinger is professional and courteous.
He will definitely be an asset for WSB-AM.

With both Hullinger and SouthSide on Atlanta radio, who will get custody of "Yeah C'mon" ?

hell yeah! hysterical!!! i'm fairly certain hullinger will win that battle.

i'm happy to hear the news! even if he has been a pain in management's ass. that's why they get paid the big bucks. i always thought he was great.

This, I think, adds more fuel to the fire of the Falcons leaving that awful ZGC deal and heading to WSB.

If you like drunken malcontents who use their relationship with the CEO to keep their job despite decimal point ratings. A joy to work with indeed.

So is hullinger on the air this week?
I haven't heard, sorry if this has been discussed.
