Human Giant Cast Taking Over MTV For 24 Hours; Will Program Old MTV Shows

Human Giant is a sketch comedy show on MTV. One of the cast is Paul Scheer, best known from VH1's Best Week Ever.

This sounds very cool.

Literally a week ago MTV came to us and asked us if we would be interested in doing a 24 hour event…in a week. We said, “Yes!”" and since then we have been working our asses off to figure out how exactly to fill the time. We have full access to the MTV vaults, we can play pretty much anything we want, with the exception of anything Nirvana related (Damn you, Courtney Love). So that means Old Remote Control, Singled Out, Beavis and Butthead, Sifle and Ollie and tons more. Plus we’ll be airing a Human Giant Marathon. Every episode from our entire 1st season and we have a ton of amazing guests like….

Will Arnett
Chris Anderson
Fred Armisen
Matt Besser
Andy Blitz
Michael Cera
Cracked Out
Curtis and John
Jon Daly
Zach Galifianakis
Brett Gelman
Jon Glaser
Bill Hader
Kane Brothers (Wrote the Theme to Illusionators and Spacelords)
Nick Kroll
Adam McKay
Eugene Mirman
Morningwood
John Mullaney
The National
Bob Odenkirk
Rob Riggle
Andy Sandberg
Slovin and Allen
Michael Showalter
Jorma Taccone
Tapes ‘n Tapes
Ted Leo
Tegan and Sara
The Walkmen
Andrew WK
…..and many more

It all starts This Friday (5/18) on MTV/MTV2 at Noon and continues till Saturday (5/19) Noon

So stay up with us, we are commited to staying up the entire time and every hour we’ll be having contests that you’ll virtually be able to interact with (I know that last part sounds lame, but it won’t be).

CURRENT MTV TRENDS

It seems MTV has gone in a completely different direction the last few months. I even read an article saying most of the female demographic has shyed away from MTV therefore, they are losing ratings. MTV seems to be aiming towards males now, which is supposed to be MTV2's current purpose. I really like the new direction of MTV and Human Giant is probaly the best thing to happen to them since Beavis and Butt-Head! Could this also mean MTV will be favoring a rock mix, and even add more music to their schedule? I doubt it, but it would make sense. At least 12-15 hours of music a day with shows in between wouldn't hurt.

I hear they're already planning a spinoff starring abortionwacko Eric Rudolph - "Inhuman Giant".

A few things witnessed so far during this 24-hour extravaganza...

A performance by the band Mastodon
The Toys R Us in Times Square and the entire street it's on lose power
One of the Human Giant cast (Rob Huebel) getting to third base with a picture of Tony Danza
Eddie Murphy's "Party All The Time" music video
Pearl Jam's "Evenflow" music video
Ted Leo performing
A fish orgasming
A man forced to walk around Times Square with a boombox blasting "Hanging Tough" by New Kids On The Block
A caller getting through with a poem that turned racist.

And there's about 18 more hours to go...

In the 90's this WAS MTV, and why I never watched this horse manure growing up.

This sounds like a radio station in the process of changing formats, only going back to the one it had before. In other words, it looks like MTV is going back to the raunchy days of the 90's.

Looks like parents are going to be calling up to order blocks for the channel like parents back then did.

A fish orgasming

They better be lucky they are outside the reach of the FCC.

I thought the current crap on MTV was raunchy. I just hope they cancel My Super Sweet 16!

Well I've been watching here and there hoping to see some old shows. Guess what, they didn't show any. Talk about a waste of 24 hours on MTV, this was it. I never thought I would say that though, cause 24 hours of MTV is 99% a waste. Well this event was a 100% waste. Show me the old shows!!!!!!

Hey, maybe if they do this it means we'll actually see music videos on MTV!
