Hunterdon County

Why is it that I see on Hunterdon County NJ Cable systems that they have both philly and nY tv Stations. they are hardly mentioned in neither of the cities TV I only remember that once a few years back did CBS3 send a reporter there to cover a story.

Because geographically Hunterdon County is right in between NYC and Philly. What other stations would you expect the cable systems there to carry?? You can pick up both NYC and Philly stations over-the-air in Hunterdon County.

I live in Hunterdon County and it is in the New York DMA. Depending on what side of the county you have a different cable company. Patriot Media is the main cable company in the county (serves the central and the Eastern half of county:Flemington, Clinton, Readington) and it carries all the NYC stations but only carries WTXF, WPSG, and WHYY from Philly. Then you have Comcast in the northern half of the county(High Bridge, Califon, Glen Gardner, Hampton) carries all the NYC stations but only WTXF and WCAU which was just moved only to digital cable in the last two months. Then Comcast in the southern half of the county(Lambertville and Stockton) carries all the NYC and Philly Stations. Finally there's Service Electric(The cable company I have) in the Western Side of the county(Frenchtown and Milford), they only carry Channels 2,4,5,7,9,11 from New York in which Channels 2,4, and 7 are on different channels than what they should be on. We do not have WNET or WNYE at all. We have all the Philly stations except WYBE, and WGTW. The funny thing is that on the channel lineup posted on the web it says we get WPXN and WXTV but actually we get the WPPX and WUVP feeds of the networks. We also get the Allentown stations as well. Back in the 90's, WNEP and WBRE from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre used to be carried on the cable system. For the News Coverage, I find the NY stations only come to the county if their is a big Delaware River flood, a earthquake that happened in 2003, The Jayson Williams story, and a few other things. I have seen the Philly Stations cover stories along the river towns in Hunterdon County. By watching both cities newscasts, I find the Philly stations cover the county better than the NYC station. NYC stations would only come if their was something big going on, other than that they dont care about us. They rather cover stories within a 10 mile radius of NYC or Long Island and not around their 100 mile radius coverage area. All Hunterdon County is, is a farming and small town county with nothing going on and thats why we don't get any news coverage!

And its neighbor Somerset County

Hunterdon and Somerset counties are smack dab in the middle -- they get New York and Philadelphia OTA stations loud and clear. To the old digest-size TV Guide it was a different matter.

Hunterdon County got the New Jersey/Pennsylvania edition and later the Philadelphia edition. Somerset County almost always got the New York Metropolitan edition, though the 7-Eleven on Route 206 in Hillsborough sold the Philadelphia edition. And I've lived in Somerset County for over 30 years!

Hunterdon is becoming an exurb for NYC and North Jersey. A lot of farmland has been torn up for McMansions. The old Flemington Fairgrounds is gonna be the site of a Wal-Mart.
