In an attempt to grab ratings and headlines, Aunt Carlos & his band of merry men bypassed the Twin Cities, blowing into The Big Easy to capture the story on Gustav.
Unfortunately, for KTAR and the rest of 400+ "Big Media" outlets in New Orleans, Gustav wasn't quite the disaster for which they were hoping. Sadly--for "Big Media"--only eight deaths were attributed to Gustav, which is now described as merely a tropical storm, chugging its way through Louisiana. And the hype behind the storm is now little more than a dribble on the news blotter.
Oil prices tumbled $8 a barrel to $107, effectively dousing "Big Media's" prognostication of higher gas prices and a Gulf-Coast catastrophe for "Big Oil".
Thankfully, we will always have the memories of Aunt Carlos' brave reporting from illegal-alien Gustav and pictures of how he weathered the big storm! Such bravery should surely be commended and applauded! http://www.ktar.com/?sid=949762&nid=237&pid=8
Thank you, Aunt Carlos, for risking your life to save so many. And thank you, Russ, for having the stones to send him into the eye of the storm.
