"Hurricane"by Leon Everette

Recently I remembered what was a top 5 song for a man named Leon Everette back in the early 1980's named "Hurricane". Funny thing is the song described what happend in New Orleans basically.

Only thing I have is if this song could ever be aired for a while on classic country stations due to it being a sensitive time and all but others are playing I think as a rallying cry for New Orleans and the gulf coast

Personally I went through this storm's western edge and would love to hear the song again but I think in my area it will be years before we hear it again..

But,what is everyone's feelings about it?

I remember playing that song back around 1982. What I think would
be a much more fitting tribute would be if a well known New Orleans
artist (perhaps Aaron Neville) would cut a song with proceeds to
benefit the recovery.

Huricane was a great song. I played it many times on KILT. Gene Watson had a Louisiana style song called "Love in the Hot Afternoon." Lyrics were about wet tangled sheets and a street vendor yelling "fillet gumbo."

Love that song too (Gene Watson's "Love in the hot afternoon" and it's "file' gumbo" )...

I've heard the whole Neville family was thinking about doing something..
But word I've heard is Willie Nelson is thinking about redoing his train song "City of New Orleans" for this event instead.

I have that song in my classic country playlist and, after thinking about it for a while, decided to leave it in. Although that library is quite large and I don't think it's been played for a couple of days..

Have the Gene Watson song too. Plus a few thousand more..LOL<P ID="signature">______________

If I were to make a list of my 10-20 favorites of the 80's, "Hurricane" would have to be on the list. In fact, I have the 45 rpm in my stack of records to convert to MP3.

How about a duet with Willie & Arlo Guthrie who had the 2 hits with the song? Unfortunately writer Steve Goodman has been gone for many years.

Has Willie ever worked with Arlo? Lord knows Willie's
done duets with just about everyone!
