Just about every AM was off the air except 560, 1510(?!) and 1600.....All the FMs were on except 102.5 and KFDM was in rf trouble....STL was affected and it looked like they were on low power...KBTV (4) was off the air....KBMT 12 was ok from what I could tell....KFDM was still having issues late afternoon...XMTR was on but still up/down while the tower crew adjusted the dish.....
BUT who carried any news during the midday?? NOONE....KLVI had its usual programs after 10am (extended morning coverage of the storm but then NOTHING); especially the "mouth", Rush....Cumulus had no extended coverage about power outages, etc.....talk about poor news coverage....a lot of people are still out of power as of tonight....and yet, few have any answers...Entergy has ~1500 people coming in to work on the problems....some staying as far away as BAYTOWN......all this for a small Cat 1 hurricane....

Well yeah but what did you expect? If that would of happend here in Houston you would of heard an extended edition of news. Beside I have family that lives in Beaumont and Vidor and they lost power for at least six hours but they have it on know. This hurricane did not cause to much damage so, no damage means no news.

This is not surprising. I've been in Dallas all week and the national coverage is more on the 'surprise' aspect of the storm. It was nearly category 2 when it hit and it went from tropical depression to hurricane in 18 hours. So much for hurricane planning and evacuation. Its good that it was near enough to the coast that it didn't strengthen further.

The sad thing is, there are lots of people in the triangle who haven't fully recovered from Rita two years ago, but all I ever hear about in the national media is about Louisiana. Enough already! Rita caused much more damage in Texas than was experienced in Louisiana 2 years ago. There were several instances of families still living in FEMA trailers which were rolled by the hurricane force winds yesterday.

As for news, I don't think Cumuclueless has a news department. They could have their syndicated programming broadcast something for the local market, couldn't they? :p
