Hurricane Florence

I noticed as of 1:30 am this morning all the iheartradio stations in Myrtle Beach are wall to wall hurricane coverage except Mix 97.7 as they are dead air but the RDS is working. The only thing they are rebroadcasting WCSC Live 5 News out of Charleston, SC. All the iheartradio stations in Charleston use WCSC and the Myrtle Beach iheartradio stations use WPDE ABC 15. So I'm not sure why they are using WCSC instead of WPDE.

As for any of the other Myrtle Beach stations are all playing regular format. Not even WRNN 99.5 has hurricane coverage and their a news station instead airing national syndicated
 
I haven't listened to WEZV but they had absolutely nothing on the hurricane that wasn't pre-recorded, and even that was commercials that mentioned the hurricane, and one apparently "stay safe" message from a DJ that hadn't been on the air during her entire shift.

I guess the idea is provide relaxing music that helps people through the ordeal. Except it doesn't stay relaxing for long. I misinterpreted what they were doing.
 
If you have access to the web site, now the recorded station IDs are telling you go there. Otherwise, something resembling relaxing music.
 
All iheartradio stations in Myrtle Beach and Florence are all broadcasting the same Hurricane Florence coverage from iheartradio no sure where it's be broadcast from. And this morning all the iheartradio myrtle beach stations were local with the gator 107.9 morning show cutting back and forth with WPDE. Awesome job by iheartradio Myrtle Beach

Can't say much about 104.1 92.1 or 99.5
Same for Cumulus stations
 
I just lost WEZV, both on tunein and securesystems.

Switching to WVCO. They're closer to the ocean, I believe, but they're still on.
 
iHeartRadio quit working so I started listening to WNAM on the computer rather than the DVR.

Which meant I had to give up WVCO a couple of hours ago. But I just checked and it's still there. When I was listening, no updated information. Or any information.
 
Just checked on WVCO and it doesn't work. I'll try some other stations.

WGTN is farther south in Georgetown. Talk show with callers. Too professional sounding to be local. Hard rock music where commercials should be.

I checked the Cumulus stations. Sunny had commercial after commercial after commercial …

after commercial and finally music.

The Team had a Clemson game. Kiss and Nash were both playing music. The AM station with the Fox logo and a translator wasn't working.

WKZQ music.

WYAV music.

WRNN has someone commenting on how long the rain will last. We'll talk about the river flooding. Gas along Highway 9. We're on the air. Get some rest. you got called back five times. Gas lines are moving, cops directing them Cherry Grove. The big bridge is open. The swing bridge is closed. That means open. It's 1:11. Thanks for calling. What can I help you with?

WRNN, Dillard's manager wants to contact his employees to make sure they get paid for the week.

WRNN has local programming. When I turned it on, a woman was giving advice about what to do in the event of flooding.

His female co-host was getting calls at home and realized she had to forward the calls to "Dave".

A lot of businesses are open in Myrtle Beach. "Dave" and his co-host said they thought they'd be announcing a lot of closings. Schools are closed. One gas station is limiting how much gas people can buy.

The co-host is "Liz".

Advice on what to do if you evacuate, one woman's experience with cleaning up, getting her power back.

Dave said he almost said morning show. He'll have to start putting a quarter in the jar each time he says that by mistake.

Briefing coming on ETV.

WRNN continued to take calls, and there was advice about what roads to take and not take. Then the governor came on with a briefing. This began with words of inspiration and a prayer from a chaplain, then details from a National Weather Service representative, and other information from the governor. There is record rainfall in NC and the water will come toward SC, in addition to rain that has caused flooding in SC. Flash floods are dangerous, but the real flood is still coming. Remember that water in the road could be deep!

WRNN left the briefing and had to run commercials, and began making announcements but had to go to Fox News, where Kavanaugh is the top story.

Dave and Liz are leaving at 4 (and coming back tomorrow morning) but they've spent most of the time telling people what roads are closed for people returning to Myrtle Beach from Marion and other distant locations.

They were going to get a briefing from Mark Lazarus (some government official) but he's dealing with a lawsuit over flood prevention efforts.

One caller said they are doing an excellent job and should get an award.
