Huh? It is hitting just NE of Tallahassee with 140 mph winds. And the WTNT tower is to the NE of central Tallahassee. The storm is very, very wide and will be very destructive for an area well over 120 miles wide and will retain strength at lest as far north as Albany, GA, and be quite powerful even into Atlanta.
Panama City is farther to the west, so will feel it less than Tallahassee and Thomasville but because it is on the Gulf, it will have much more tidal flooding.
I was in Tallahassee at iHeart for the storm. We lost power at various times Thursday night at all the transmitter sites and the studio but all are equipped with generators and automatic transfer switches. All sites were tested 2 days before the storm hit....WTNT and the WXSR/WFLA sites were on generator most of the night and Friday.
