The water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico is hotter than ever before. That gives these storms the fuel to strengthen rapidly. Ian went from a CAT 1 to almost a 5 quickly. The intensity of thunderstorms, severe heat, the melting of ice shelfs, etc... are all climate related. These "Once in a Thousand" year events are happening at an alarming rate all over the world. Deny at your own peril...Let's not blame climate change for a hurricane that is no stronger than many going back 100 years. It just hit in a place where many lived in low-lying areas.
