Hurricane Ike AM DX

There are some stations in the Houston-Galveston area that are running critical hours or daytime power right now.

From Coldwater, MI:

KSEV 700- Tomball, TX- 1,004 miles
KGOW 1560- Bellaire, TX- 1,053 miles

Both new logs for me confirmed via webstream with matching Ike coverage. KSEV, or anything on 700 that isn't WLW in my location, is extremely rare. They are only the second station i've ever confirmed on that frequency.

I will pray for those in the path of the storm because it sounds like a very serious situation. I almost hate to be taking advantage of the storm even by DX'ing, but for those who want some ultra-rare DX, tonight may be your night.

The dance music was probably WQEW New York. A Radio Disney affiliate.

KGOW has a major lobe right in my direction, so it's no wonder I got the station. They had audio from KPRC. They only got stronger as the night went on, so i'm curious if other people from even farther logged the station.

Now KSEV was a very hard copy underneath behemoth WLW. I had my Superadio in just the right position where I could barely hear hurricane reports which matched their webstream.

Have to see if I can get enough of a null on WLW to catch KSEV..may be hard 25 miles from the transmitter. I've only confirmed one other 700..that was the Mobile station testing when WLW was off for maintenance, probably 10 plus years ago
