WWL 870 am New Orleans is presenting some fantastic coverage of the Hurricane. I have been picking them up all day.

Ive been watching WWL and WDSU on and off today...Right now (nearly 9pm) DSU has switched over to Ch 2 in orlando(sister station) as they're moving to baton rouge and higher ground.

John "Spud" McConnell is on as I listen (10:00 PM/Central).
He's doing an excellent job of balancing the sense of urgency
with an assuring, personable style. He reminds me of KRLD's
Brad Barton during severer weather.

WWL left the air around 5a. I am not sure if they themselves shut it down in order to move to another location or the storm did it.

WWL is an outstanding station to listen to during Emergency Managment. With family in Mobile, I love how they cover the entire area. The best part about the station is that THEY KNOW they can reach listeners across the gulf and up into the midwest... and they gear to the audience accordingly.

The only thing they need... a 1-800-number. If anyone happens to know that number, please let us know.
