Hurricane Lee prompts tropical storm, hurricane watches along New England coast
The National Hurricane Center says there is the potential for life-threatening storm surge flooding in portions of southeastern Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and Nantucket late Friday and Saturday.
Hurricane watch issued for parts of Maine as already rain-soaked New England braces for Lee
The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for portions of Maine and a tropical storm watch for a large area of coastal New England as Hurricane Lee heads to the region.
So far there are Hurricane warnings for New England. Hope for the best!
Southern New England expected to see flash floods as powerful storm moves through
A strong storm is moving across southern New England, bringing heavy rain and flash flooding to an already waterlogged region.
A tropical storm watch was posted Wednesday afternoon for parts of the Massachusetts and New England coastline as Hurricane Lee advances north over the Atlantic Ocean.
As of Wednesday at 8 p.m., Lee, located about 950 miles south of Nantucket, had weakened to a Category 2 with sustained winds of 105 mph. Lee was moving north-northwest at 9 mph.
The storm's center is on course to pass west of Bermuda on Thursday and approach the coast of New England and Atlantic Canada Friday night into Saturday morning.
The tropical storm watch covers a large area of coastal New England from Watch Hill, Rhode Island to Stonington, Maine, including Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Additionally, a storm surge watch has been issued for Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket.
A hurricane watch has been issued for portions of down-east Maine from Stonington to the U.S./Canada border.
