The Weather Channel is showing projections of Issac headed in the general direction of FL. I was just wondering what kind of "plans" do the broadcasters in Florida have for a direct or close hit of a storm. Do you give the local Emergency Management folks the keys and in instructions on how use the station, fire up the automation and run for higher ground? Do you send "non on air staff away? Do most stations have "storm proof" studios, STL's and Xmitter sites? When I have work in snow prone areas the station's usually had a "jeep" type vehicle available or put me up in a hotel or motel within walking distance of the studio.
 
Locals don't really care about small cat 1 storms. They usually don't knock out residential power or cable tv. As for real storms, you'll need cceng to chime in on that. Charlie's a legit hero when it comes to hurricanes. He will probably say that you just do what you know needs to be done. Been there, done that.
 
In the Keys WWUS US1 radio will have continuous coverage.
