Will any TV stations have a simulcast on radio during the storm?

Dated a girl once who told me her grandfather worked on a crew back in 1938 which worked in vain during a huge storm in prevention of something such as what is now known as Shinnecock Inlet. The new inlet actually was created by nature years after the actual Shinnecock Canal was built ......

Back at Eazy 101 in the late 80's, their consultant, the late Jhan Hiber, used to commute to his office at the station from the Jersey shore ......

Better safe than sorry, it's said. But that exodus from the shoreline regions sounds like something out of the end of the movie 'Deep Impact'. Hopefully everyone is on higher ground now ......

PPL called twice today with automated phone messages. The emphasis was about power outages ......

Listened to KYW streaming on ITunes. We down here in Mississippi are more familiar with WWL living a little closer to New Orleans but KYW is doing an excellent job of covering Sandy. I am surprised that WPHT is running vitamin commercials when they can bring in one of their on air personalities and take calls from wherever.

During Irene I think B101 also simulcasted 6abc. I suspect ogl will simulcast CBS3.

Update from my previous post; They're actually simulcasting right now on 106.1 and 1480. They have 92.5 and 900 am listed at the bottom of 6abc's screen. All CC-Philly stations have weather/weather-related updates.

WWIQ was off the air

WWIQ was off the air for awhile. The said their transmitter was flooded. I guess that that answers the question of where they are broadcasting from, the Camden site. I guess the One Liberty is still the backup. I don't think that the One Liberty site would be prone to flooding. It's a little too high off the ground.

They should have simulcasted IQ 106.9 on 101.9 NYC. Even though it's a Philly station, it's better than automated rock that's going away anyway. Or Merlin should have let CBS take over a few days earlier.

Does anyone know if WMGM 103.7 is still off the air? I know last night WMGM was knocked off. Also-anything going wrong at WMGM-TV 40? I know Atlantic City didn't get the big part of Sandy, like what Belmar got with the incredible, devastating situation, but still Atlantic City was flooded BAD.

103.7 is still off the air as of 10pm. Everything is working at WMGM-TV

ALL of the Atlantic City AM's were off, except WIBG 1020. This morning (Wed 10/31) WMID & WPGG are returned. Carrier was never interrupted on AM or FM. FM was continuous as temporary broadcasting was moved to the transmitter site in Upper Twp. Lucritive WOND moved to 102.7, and 98.3 for a brief period. Sadly, the Pleasantville marsh XMTR plant of WMGM/WOND/WBSS is drying out or fried.

Sans Sam Clover, at least Monday and Tuesday. He's apparently having a perfectly timed vacation, hopefully far from Sandy's path (but hopefully nowhere near where that earthquake struck off of northern British Columbia). He'd've had his hands and mouth full trying to sort out traffic on the 2's (and sometimes 3's or 4's) during Sandy.

More than two dozen markets may feel Sandy’s impact. It’s not just New Jersey that’s prepping for the storm. The same is true in the nearby Philadelphia market where CBS Radio all-news KYW (1060) and Merlin Media news/talk WWIQ “IQ 106.9” were providing extensive storm coverage. Some Philly music FMs aired storm updates, including AC “B101” WBEB and Beasley Broadcast Group’s country WXTU (92.5), which plans to simulcast WPVI-TV at the height of the storm. It’s a similar story in the New York market with stations planning to step up coverage Hurricane Sandy draws even closer. With a storm path that includes a westward turn that meteorologists haven’t seen before, several inland markets are also readying for Sandy. In the Wilkes Barre-Scranton metro Nassau Broadcasting director of programming Rob Bauman tells the Pocono Record that they took a lot of lessons away from Hurricane Irene a year ago when they literally were using candlelight in the studio. “We were in the dark and we got hurt just like everyone else. We’re trying to be better prepared this time,” he says. “We have all our ducks in a row this time.”
