Hutch Is Back on Survivor...I mean, WZLX

What's great about it? He's never had much of interest to say and Madonna does a better brittish accent. ::)

I never listen to a music station long enough to hear much of a DJ, or a canned voice, in the case of 93.7.

It's a far cry from 20 years ago when I'd listen to BCN or ZLX as much for the personality as anything else.

Then I interned at ZLX, and found out just how little input the air staff has over what's played. That's when my naivete about the industry ended. It's also when I came to appreciate the importance of a strong personality for morning drive shows on music stations (i.e. Stern, pre-satellite).

So, good for Hutch. I'm glad he's working, even though I have no idea who he is.

Hutch is a truly British gentleman who has a passion for radio. He knows quite a bit about music and it is a pity that in the Corporate climate today he doesn't get as much of a chance to talk about what he knows.

If XM and SIRIUS merge it will, again, limit what on-air personalities can or cannot say - be it WZLX or satellite, Corporations want to control the media. Hutch is one of the good guys so, like you, Mickey37, I'm happy he's back on the air too.
