Hy Lit coming back to terrestrial radio!

Johnathan P. Casey from WSNJ reported on this week's Radio Racket that Hy Lit is coming back to the airwaves! No word yet on a start date, but Hyski will be heard on WSNJ (1240 & 1440) in the near future.

WSNJ is expected to make the official announcement soon.

HY will be UPTOWN,DOWNTOWN,CROSSTOWN,ALL OVER TOWN IN Cumberland and Cape May County . Making Many Appeances and Frequentley Live from The WSNJ STUDIOS

Is this a brokered program? Who is paying whom?

Hy may come back to terrestrial radio but will terrestrial radio come back?

I wouldn't exactly say "all over" Cape May County. A little hard getting 1240/Bridgeton with 1230/Wildwood and 1440/Millville with 1450/Atlantic City right there. Unless you mean the highly populated stretch of Cape May Co. from Belleplain to Fishing Creek that can sorta kinda get WMVB (during the day).

"all over" is simply an expression, taken from old time Hy Lit rapping. Its not meant to be literal.

I am pleased and delighted to confirm that 1240/WSNJ Bridgeton & 1440/WMVB Millville Vineland, have the exclusive Cumberland County HyLitRadio terrestrial broadcast extension rights that are part of the expansion plans underway at HyLitRadio.com on a first come market by market basis. I will personally be providing exclusive accommodations to our selected broadcast affiliates with custom and live programming components. Sneak previews will be heard on WSNJ/WMVB beginning Monday 9/25. Portions of every broadcast day will simulcast with HyLit.com beginning 10/2 to coincide with our 1st anniversary. Record and kicks from the Hy Lit Bag of tricks. Don't move or you'll loose the groove.

-Hy Lit

Inreponse to Fred and Eatspaste
Fred as confirmed by The Radio Racket, HY and Sam Lit and Myself.
HY LIT Likes to Play But Nose Not Have to PAY. The Agreement with WSNJ AND WMVB Is Just one part of the Puzzle That HY and SAM
Have Planned to Keep Terresstial Radio Alive Throughout the UNITED STATES In Addition to INTERNET RADIO Such as HYLITRADIO.COM
and WSNJAM.COM. Even Stern is returning to Terrestrial in Addition to Sirus Satilte,Look for COUSIN BRUCIE also on Sirus to do the same.
Alwaways Enjoy Your Posts and Agree with You Most of the time !!!!

EATSPASTE WSNJAM Goes Upward to Places as far as PHILLY AIRPORT ,DELAWARE COUNTY And can Even can be Picked up on CITY LINE AVE IN BALA CYNWYED on The Downside WSNJ1240 is Overpowered by WCMC1230 at DENNISVILLE and in the Daylight HOURS WMVB 1440 Can be Picked up ALL Over Cape May County, including Cape May,Wildwood,Somers Point ,Ocean City and Parts of Atlantic County,Including Margate,Egg Harbor,Pleasant Ville And More on a Good Car Radio,Also in Your Home on a Good Radio.
I Would also Like to Point Out That Both WSNJ1240 and WMVB1440 Can be Received all Over the State of Delaware in the Daylight Hour's
Even the The Cape May-Lewis Ferry. Two Big FM stations first WOGL cannot even be Received in Delaware and WVLT FM Which Clames to Received in Delaware is Over Powered by Delawares Based Oldies station on 92.1 (The WAVE). I Have been to all these area's and witnested It First Hand.

It's a coup and a half and, personally, a humbling thing knowing that as a kid, I can say "I work at the same station as the legendary Hyski." But, furthermore, all allegiances aside, I think it's a solid move for the betterment of not just the station and format (or formats of WSNJ if you wanna be technical), it's something positive for the community. 'SNJ usually revels in being a station for 55 and over (sometimes I joke 55 to dead off air, lol) and a lot of people remember the uncanny delivery, personality, and greatness that is Hy. It just might keep some of our listeners up past their bedtime, maybe even dancing in the streets in...well you don't wanna do that in Bridgeton in the middle of the night.

From today's Inquirer

Philly radio legend Hy Lit is fixing to return to radio. He's been Webcasting his oldies at hylitradio.com since he left WOGL-FM (98.1) in December. Starting tomorrow, he will do daily spots on two South Jersey stations - WSNJ-AM (1240) and WMVB-AM (1440) - as he gears up for syndication. Word of the arrangement leaked Friday night on the Internet show radioracket.com. Link: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/15592502.htm

That's deep. Unfortunatly in all my years in Philly I never heard Hy(heard on the air, not heard of.). I'm halfway tempted to crank up the internet stream to see what all the hubbub is about.

Offcial Start Date for HY LIT Dailey Features Throughout the day and Overnight Simulcast from Mid-Night until Dawn 7 Days a week Will begin on Monday October 2 on WSNJ1240AM AND WMVB1440AM.
Promos from HY LIT Will begin on Monday September 25th

Yes, WSNJ and WMVB have excellent (day) signals into Delaware. However, you can count on one hand the number of listeners in Seaford who want to hear about what's happening in Carll's Corner. WVLT covers half the state of Delaware, north of Dover.

I'd love to know what home or car radio you use to get WMVB in Pleasantville (or Egg Harbor, in the middle of the bay I suppose). WMVB's signal is designed (on paper) to NOT get into Pleasantville, due to WENJ.

Regardless of what's on, the average radio listener isn't listening to either WSNJ or WMVB outside of Salem or Cumberland Counties.

Somers Point is most definitely not in Cape May County. It's Atlantic. And if 1440Kc WMVB is getting into Pleasantville, there's serious problems with their array, as 1450Kc WENJ's xmtr is about 1/2 away as the crow flies.

With that said, being IN Somers Point, I wish I COULD listen in the car! Go Hy.

Bottom line, these two flea powered stations cover nothing outside of a 10m radius. Especially WMVB, they cannot be heard in the Cumberland Mall, which is out of their pattern and in view of their two broken down towers. WSNJ has no true signal outside of C County. They are just a faint whisper in the Philly area. I commend Hy for what he is trying to accomplish and worship the ground he walks on but its a mockery for him to appear on these two poor stations. It would of been nice if WSNJ was still at 107.7, this way the signal would of exploded in all areas of consideration, but on these two frequencies no one would attempt to listen. The internet may be the only way to hear Hy without any distortion. Its a shame a great legend like Hy has to be heard on these two frequencies, he deserves a flamethrower.

Why do some people insist on "peeing in somebody's Wheaties?"

I agree that Hy should be on a flamethrower, several, in fact, but WSNJ and WMVB are a start. And, in a era of homogenized corporate radio, they are successful, local stations, serving their communities quite well.

I thought that was the business radio is in.
Of course, radio loves to dish it out but can't take it.
