Hy Lit is leaving WOGL FM

You are hearing this first, as I think you should. Hy will be departing oldies 98 WOGL FM after almost 16 years. As another chapter of phila radio history ends, another begins. Hyski logs in to the internet, devoting himself to the hylitradio.com expansion plans. To find out what will happen, stay tuned, to the internet, all my hipsters, flipsters, finger poppin daddy's and cool baby sitters.

Sam, I'm sorry to see your father leave the station, especially under such unfortunate terms. At least its his call, not the station's (I assume). WOGL really came into its own when your father joined, and their treatment of him the last few years as been unfair.
Having said that, I'm VERY curious to see how the site will expand. Will we hear your father live on the "air"? If you decide to start a loyal listener club, sign me up!

Will there be a final WOGL show or special for Hyski? The station wont be the same without him, but thank goodness for hylit.com . Keep up the great work on the website.

Sam,

So sorry to hear this, as your dad really made WOGL something special to listen to. Some of the best memories (and airchecks) were of your dad on the radio. Not to slight Holiday, Big Ron or Rockin' Ron Cade, but Hyski really made 98 come alive whenever he was on. But with the legal issues, I guess he felt it was time to say goodbye.

Hopefully, this means the expansion of the online stream (http://hylitradio.com).

Best wishes,

Sam, I too am very sorry to see Hy leave WOGL. I listened to your dad as I grew up and all the Wibbage good guys. I used to have Hy on as I did my homework on his famous Moldy Oldie Sunday night show.(Failed a couple of tests) Best of luck to Hyski and his website project. I will be listening. I'll never forget the last hour of the Wibbage wake with Hy and Niagra. I treasure that aircheck and play it once in a while. I now live about 1000 ft from the WFIL/WNTP station and the memories pour in as I pass 117 Ridge Pike. Later---Evil Roy

Sam,
I also am sorry to hear of your dad's departure from WOGL. Finding my mom's old records as a child turned me on to the oldies. I am 27 years old and grew up listening to your dad. I started listening to him in 1990, shortly after he came to WOGL. He is a class act and will be missed! I will be rolling tape on his final show.

I love the stream. I am a native New Yorker who went to college at Drexel in the seventies. Hy Lit radio plays Philly oldies as I remember them. The songs that no one outside of the Delaware Valley ever heard is on it. It is just as I remember from 1977. I hope the concept grows.

Thanks. I can go for a cheesesteak now, but none around here are any good.
