HyLitRadio.com gets a favorable comment outside Philly

I listen often, and I agree with the author's comments! Sam and his dad had the vision several years ago to make this work. Judging by the amount of HITS Sam gets on his stream, I'd say it's doing quite well. Monetizing the site and stream is an ongoing process...but the niche is there and actually listened to in MANY offices, and on smartphones. Bravo Sam.
BE BIG! www.BigJaySorensen.com

It is the best Internet station. The jingles montages are spectacular. And the music selection is awesome. I have it as a preset on my Internet radio in my living room.

I listen to Hy Lit Radio from time to time. The only drawback is the lack (non existence) of a song/artist display on the media player. I can see where it wouldn't be feasible to have it on it's Windows Media Player window with the carousel display, but should be able to have one on it's iTunes/Winamp media player. Other than that, it's a great station.

I found that site to be a bit too--how do I say it...whitebread. Not bad, but Sam's thing is MUCH more Philly-Centric...and thus authentic for what PHILLY grew up with. That isn't badly programmed...but it ain't as well-thought out a playlist. Again...my opinion. BE BIG!

Nothing comes close. Not selection, presentation, rotation, audio quality, or 'cool' factor.

My second choice for true oldies is (when up 'n running) is Don Tandler, similar, but NYC / WABC oriented and live many hours. Sure miss Jim Nettleton.

I also miss Jim Nettleton. I enjoyed his "radio philly stlye" web feed.

Thanks there, KBland, and thank you Sam!

Have 'em on now. Great mix of Philly and National. The Pooch here -- I'm her insignificant other -- is 52 and loves it. So do I, when I get in a Philly mood, which happens often.

There's no choice but to get off on that attitudinal 'Phil ... a .... DELPhia', too!

It's a 'favourites' preset for certain, a stayer, along with WLNG Long Island, Top Shelf Oldies, Rewound Radio, Oldies Your Way, Martini Lounge, Ride Radio, and Country WIVK Knoxville.

We have more presets on Favorites here than it's possible for we AARPers to distribute on the car radio availabilities.

Very nice listening!

Just found out about this site, not from Philly, glad to find the station.

I will tell you the best OLDIES programmer I ever encountered was a guy in Ocala, FL...his name is Bill Blizzard and he created a format down there called "FUN 102"...it was absolutely a blast to listen too...lots of authentic jingles, wide selection of music that would have appealed to national as well as NYC and Boston transplants. I wish he would create an internet radio station.

All that said, I really like what I am hearing on HyLitRadio.com...thanks for the tip!

Fun 102.7 WRGO? the station that has gone mono, jockless, but before i remember having a satelite feed and being in stereo?

Yes, one in the same and it was done for about a year and half before the owners sold it to Pamal/Sunshine.

Nice to see a good response to the initial intent of just expressing pleasant surprise of this station getting exposure far away, but more importantly appreciating it, which those of us that lived the time, lived the location, can only best appreciate. And I might add that was particularly true with a great Plan B down the dial at Famous 56. Boy, were we blessed between Hy and King George.

I, as a young kid, and total stranger still wanted to kill Hy, or whoever was responsible at times for playing mere seconds of A Night With Daddy G before the good music continued with Underwater as Frank X hit the air.

Today, on what I'm told is the 4th anniversary of Hy's passing, thanks to modern technology, I can finally listen to the Church Street 5 without resenting it being cutoff. Part 2's a bit much, but being as HyLitRadio.Com is the only radio station where you can still hear it, or Underwater by The Frogmen, or Joe Niagara's theme, whatever the title was, it's nice to acknowledge the date by sharing this...
