Hysterical

Have you seen the email addresses for the Blueberry Broadcasting executives now running their Augusta and Bangor markets?

Apparently they're brothers...the Blueberry Brothers! Nothing like riding back in to town with cutting edge technology. Do you think they don't have the $$$ to even register BlueberryBroadcasting.com?

Gmail accounts?????? Not good. Please order duct tape for the equipment please......

Ha! These new owners have no idea what they're in for.

oh i think they do (since they've owned stations before) I just don't think they're prepared for 21st century radio with the large group they have

.....could have been worse... a "HOT" mail account ;)

I wonder if they're bulking carts as we speak

pftt... anyone that trades in top-40 CHR station in for a sports simulcast from boston is got to not be bright!!!!!

And what about those poor ppl who listen to WABI-AM? I bet ppl will miss that station 2

You've based that eloquent opinion on what? From a business POV (and it IS a business) this makes lots of sense...lower expenses and far more attractive target demo.

agreed.......what is the first thing they did when they took over? fire a few people, cut the fat. A CHR is time and money, with giveaways, appearances and the like. I HATE the idea of trading in a CHR for a sports station, but if it helps the bottom line, I'm all for it. They can always flip one of the country stations or 101.7 or 102.1 to CHR down the road if they want.

true i guess, but still, those TOS jocks were pretty historic to the station, it's too bad, and Deke Rivers also got fired from WKSQ. And now the B97 and WRED staff....... :(

These guys know their stuff, alright. if you have to make changes and streamline in the short term that's acceptable if there's a possibility for some real inovation down the road. Keep in mind their aquisitions could signify a watershed moment as ownership swings from McRadio back to local folks. The industry could use a lot more of the same.

if anyone wins powerball, I would love to see the stations put in control by one of us ;)

Cut the fat? Are you saying Clear Channel had fat to cut?

I read with interest the same folks that have placed ALL of the blame on the ever changing world of entertainment and information on Clear(cheap) Channel and other mega-companies,
are now the same folks saying the local company had to cut the fat?

Wasn't LOCAL companies/d.j.'s, the quick and easy fix? Sure wish it was as simple as that.

Gmail accounts?????? Not good.

So, a new company is up and running and using gmail. So what?

What difference does that make? Maybe they don't have an IT department or IT guy yet. If so, it's a quick smart solution.

No it's not Lou. It's indicative of a company either unprepared, lazy or too cheap to simply set up a proper domain name and email addresses. No IT "Guy" is required to do this. It's done by thousands and thousands of non "IT Guy" people every day.

Gmail is the best, most robust webmail out there. It offers free POP3, mp3 player right off the page, chat, and a lot more.
Those who diss Gmail probably haven't tried it.
I'm a production director. I have the main production account here forwarded to my Gmail, (along with two other accounts I have) and it makes dubbing off emailed spots a snap. I don't even have to download the attachment.
Gmail rocks.

Kestral:

You have so missed the point it is, quite frankly, embarrassing. 90% of every employee of the all new BlueBerry Broadcasting reads these boards. 100% have some semblance of a brain.

They ALL KNOW that if you work for Citadel, Cumulus, Portland Radio Group, Nassau, etc what a domain name looks like for a professional company. They also know what it looks like for a real Mom and Pop, don't spend a nickel, organization.

It is a HUGE, HUGE mistake for a new company to come in with a no attention to what is a very important detail. Perception is 100% reality. Blueberry is making a monumental mistake. I don't think they even realize how many sales reps of every level are trying to get out. Bruce Biette certainly doesn't have a clue; if he did he would have a panic attack.

This has NOTHING to do with Gmail and what is does or doesn't offer. It has 100% to do with the perception that "were cheap as hell bastards and we're going to operate these stations the same way we operated our other stations before" (Mariner Broadcasting).

And guess what.......the cheapness is clearly coming across to every employee.

Every current "Blueberry" employee will know exactly what lies in front of them based upon the instruction manual given to them on how to set up a gmail account.
