Steve Ocean here - coulda' had a long career in broadcasting had I stayed with it...instead, I went into the Army for technical training, back to college for a BSEE and now make $150,000/year...can't believe I was ready to settle for a fraction of that and some free pens and t-shirts (and the ego-stroking you give yourself every day as a radio star). I got plenty of green stuff in my wallet and in the bank, my ego is satisfied.
