I 95 signal much better?

I don't know whats going on but the last couple of weeks I have tried tuning into I- 95.1 WRKI. It has not been listenable. all of a sudden tonight its like comming in like a local station in the greenwich Ct area. any Ideas why?
did they get another relay for their signal at all?
thanks -Oz

I thought I recall reading somewhere that one of their boosters was down, maybe there were issues wth WRKI-1 in Norwalk and they've sinced fixed that.

I think someone on here owrks or used to work for WRKI, so maybe they'll shed some light.

Probably more of the handywork of Pete Partenio as I believe he's the C.E. for them. From what I hear he was also kind enough to help out my friends at WMNR who had an STL problem. Way to go, Pete!

I did notice while driving yesterday, that I-95 was coming in like gangbusters down in Mount Kisco NY yesterday. It was almost city-grade all the way down 684 and into Katonah! Could also be conditions, who knows...

Yes, the boosters are back on, been having trouble with almost every part of the system.
I have repaired everything but still have a path problem with the ICR, so you may hear the boosters dump out every now and then.

Also, got a call from John B at WMNR with a bad STL transmitter and was able to set him up with RES in Red Hook, NY for a loaner and repairs.

thanks for fixing it.
I don't think I have ever been able to get I-95.1 clear in stereo on my stationary reciever before in Old Greenwich.
It's kinda nice being able to listen to dee snyders HOH for the 1st time in a long time!
(I used to get it on 106.3 wpdh relay as well but I can't because of that pirate in NY)
tell your buds at WPDH to get the FCC up here to hunt down that pirate in New Rochelle Area on 106.3
then I could get double the Dee Snyders HOH lol

I remember back in the day when Pat Carlone was setting up the Norwalk booster and had the relay at the old WDJF tower that Don Flamm owned (I use to babysit the tower at one time for Don's nephew, Gary). I remember it was a congomeration of mixed gear to make the relay work - I hope you were able to improve on what Pat started with there.

John was more or less my mentor back when I was in school and I stay in touch with him and the folks at WMNR. I help them out with computer related stuff where I can. I'm glad you were able to help John and Kurt out on that.

This is totally off topic but who does the morning show there at I-95 now?? I haven't listened in years...last I knew it was Ethan Carey and a woman whose name I cannot recall.... ???

I remember the woman you are referring to, but her name escapes me. Good Ol' Ethan "The Cooker" Carey is still there, hosting mornings with the hillarious, intellegent, and irreverent Canadian dude, Neil Hedley, and the somewhat boring (but very much improving) Lisa Harris. It's a really good show, although I feel they should cut back on the sports stuff just a tad.

The previous incarnation of the WRKI morning show was entitled "Ethan, Neil and Rob". Nobody has ever been able to tell me what happened to Rob, he just sorta disappeared without a trace and without explanation. I suspect he may be sleeping with the fishes at the bottom of Candlewood Lake. Anyway, it was a good show, and still is.

Let's see, I recall the following morning show configurations;
Ethan & Scully
Ethan & Mary Scanlon ( now with Sebastian)
The short lived Ethan & Omelette and now Ethan & Neil
Did I forget anyone? What did happen to Rob?

E&O "short lived"? It lasted 3 years...

In the big picture, I'd say yeah...short lived....

Lasting 3 years on a morning show and getting #1 ratings in the market is not short lived by any standards in radio....DLR on Free FM, that was short lived.

Well yes, you're right....DLR was EXTREMELY short lived and by comparison, three years for E&O does seem like a long time...Now don't get me wrong, I liked Omelette..thought he was very funny, ( at times)..but three years in market 196, unless you drop the f-bomb and get canned, isn't really that long...You can fly under the radar for years in such a small market. And being #1 in a two horse town, again, not terribly impressive in the big picture..Their competition was "Mr Moron" at 98Q?... I guess one mans "short lived" is another mans "long time".. It's all good though

He got recruited and moved up over a 100 markets...it may be mkt 196, but you can hear it in 5 states, and you can't do better than #1 in any market.

I'm glad he moved up. Where's he working now? I heard the Florida station he hooked up with, blew up the entire morning show shortly after he got there. Talk about bad timing..... and short lived... Listen,I've got nothing against either Ethan or Omelette, or I-95 for that matter ,so you should no longer feel the need to defend them. I'm guessing you used to work there in some for or fashion. I simply stated in my original post that in my opinion, his stay at I-95 was short lived...and that opinion will not change....I'll drop out here....
