"i" adds more shows in September

The changes are coming faster now.....

First, "Doc" is going to hang around just a little longer in his Mon-Thurs 9pm time slot, at least for the first half of September. A "Doc" Viewers Choice marathon will and on Sept. 16, and on Sept. 22, Billy Ray Cyrus takes his achy breaky heart off "i" for good. "Growing Pains" will move into the Mon-Fri 9pm slot starting Sept. 25.

The last Friday Night "i" movie, "Crossing Delancey" will air on Sept. 8. After that, Sunday will be "i" Movie Night.

As stated in an earlier post, the E/I block "Qubo", which by the way is the name of a computer generated.....something or other....that will bounce the kiddies from show to show. Just think Nick Jr's "Face", or "Clay" from Playhouse Disney......it's like that.

Anyway...............

"Qubo" makes it's "i" debut on Sept. 15, from 3-6pm, and then don't touch that dial, cause here come "The Monkees" at 6pm, followed by "The Partridge Family" at 6:30pm. And hey, the kids might be entetained by "Green Acres"

So here now is the new Fall Line-Up for the "i" network, starting Sept. 25. And keep in mind, this new line-up will only be good for one week, because I can tell you for a fact, that MORE changes are coming the first week in October! Just ah......read on:

Mon-Thurs
-----------
6pm Bonanza
7pm Green Acres (2 episodes)
8pm Mama's Family (2 episodes)
9pm Growing Pains (2 episodes)
10pm Diagnosis: Murder

Friday
------
3:00pm VeggieTales
3:30pm Dragon
4:00pm VeggieTales Presents: 3-2-1 Penguins! and LarryBoy Adventures (alternating stories)
4:30pm Babar
5:00pm Jane and the Dragon
5:30pm Jacob Two-Two
6pm The Monkees
6:30pm The Partridge Family
7pm Green Acres (2 episodes)
8pm Mama's Family (2 episodes)
9pm Growing Pains (2 episodes)
10pm Diagnosis: Murder

Saturdays
----------
8pm 3-hour marathons

Sept. 2 -- Sue Thomas F.B. Eye
Sept. 9 -- Bonanza
Sept. 16 -- Doc
Set. 23 -- Growing Pains
Sept. 30 -- Kung Fu Double Feature (as in the TV series w/David Carridine)

Sundays
---------
6pm Sue Thomas F.B. Eye
7pm Movie Night

Now, looking forward to October, it is possible that "i" will drop Bonanza that month (which would be a mistake),and slip "Kung Fu" in to the 6-7pm time slot. Or, there could be a 5-7pm Mon-Thurs Kung Fu/Bonanza western block, place the shows where you will. Or if "Bonanza" is dropped, another classic WB western, say Mavrick or Rawhide could take it's place. There is talk of placing a "classic" movie Mon-Thurs from 2-5pm or 3-5pm depending on length. This actually is the perfect time slot for all those Elvis, and cheesy AIP Beach and Monster flicks that "i" does have the rights to through Sony.

Here's the bottom line on all this. The people running "i" now, don't want their stations known as "that channel that runs infomercials all day long" And given time and good promotion, some success can be achived with this type of "cool" retro schedule.

I'd like to see i's changes succeed, for two reasons:

1. Hopefully they will expand the schedule with more classic TV shows and cut out more infomercials.

2. Nick at Nite and TV Land will finally have some competition. I'd like to see i get the rights to more classic shows that Nick at Nite and TV Land have the rights to, but are doing nothing with.

Good for I-still-won't-be-watching-this-poor-excuse-of-a-network!

My local affiliate (WPXH 44 Gadsden/Birmingham) better not pre-empt Green Acres with infomercials, dammit!.

Between it, Mama's Family, and Kung Fu, I'll actually be watching that miserable network for the first time ever. May their transition to an OTA version of GoodLife or TVLand continue unabated.

Does this mean there is a slight chance of seeing some of those classic "Rock N' Roll" B movies with no plot but lots of performances that AMC used to show a few years back on i?

You guys are watching the local "I" channels. The national feed doesn't show that many infomercials. The national feed runs mostly public domaun stuff, like I Married Joan, My Little Margie, Beverly Hillbillies, & Ozzie & Harriet and some really awful (in quality & content)movies. They, also run some game shows. They seem to just run them over & over but it is slightly better than informercials

My cable system carries the national feed from i and it is all infomercials until from 10 PM Central time until 5 PM the next day. It sounds like a local station that carries the PD programs.

Meanwhile in Memphis, while i is finally doing something right, WPXX channel 50 is switching to My Network TV in prime time next week. Apparently according to the schedules I found at Zap2It.com, the i programming will still be on the rest of the day. Now that i is switching to more classic TV shows in prime time, Channel 50's owner, Dr. George Flinn (A legend in his own mind in Memphis broadcasting :-\) decides to start carrying the only network that could be worse than i before the recent changes.

REAL Brilliant move Doc!

They're going to be expanding their schedule further in October, November, and December, so butt out!

Marc, was that neccersary. Directv has been threatining to pull them for about two years now if they did nt start moving away from informercials.

Everytime they tell us thay are yanking them they are still on.

Well if that's the case, then i needs to start cracking down on their affiliates who are pre-empting the national feed for all those infomercials we see as having the loose policy they seem to be demonstrating when it comes to pre-empting network programming doesn't help their image either.

Nevertheless.

They could also use some original programming as well. I'm not saying a whole lot. I'm not saying the original stuff should be the majority of what they air. But at least a smattering of original programming to mix in with the classic stuff. They can produce family-friendly original programming if they put their minds to it. Heck, The WB did for years with 7th Heaven. Look how popular that show was (And still is today in reruns). If The WB could do it with the limited resources they had, i can do it too with the limited resources they have.

Just my opinion though :D

Cheers :D

Cracking down? "i" owns most of those affiliates.

Besides, the "national" feed he was talking about is actually the "Pax/i" channel, which can be found on the digital signals of i's stations. The analog signals offer the version of i we all come to hate.

So what. Those stations have management of some sort.

That should be (At least) reversed. If they don't reverse that pattern, it ain't gonna matter what the network does. IT WILL DIE OR BE HOSTILY TAKEN OVER (Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but NBC Universal is on the brink of doing just that, is it not?)

Cheers :D

Why doesn't the I network do like PAX did and start its programming at Noon Central Time? They showed great programs during the noon hour and afternoons like The Big Valley,Bonanza,The Love Boat,Remington Steele,Scarecrow And Mrs King and Eight Is Enough.

They should have The Monkees and The Partridge Family on every day as opposed to once a week like they are going to do with them only being on Fridays.

Also bring back Eight Is Enough and another show that hasn't been seen in a while,Family.

Unless the show is the original "Star Trek" (which is getting an extreme makerover for its 40th birthday), most shows that only ran 2-3 seasons as in the case of "The Monkees" or "The Partridge Family" don't get Mon-Fri runs except perhaps durning the summer. 58 episodes goes by pretty quickly. I think both shows will eventually end up on the weekends.

Look, I still think this is a good start for a network that is now going to be basically providing classic TV to OTA TV Stations. And I agree, some orignal programming would be very good, even if it isn't domestically produced. I think some deals could be made with the CBC, Global, or one of the other Canadian nets, depending on the show. They just pay for the American rights, and look......new cool shows ;D

And it is my hope and belief that we'll have an October surprise to look forward to.

If i was to start carrying more Canadian shows, I would vote for getting The Red Green Show. It's getting pretty lousy treatment from the PBS station in my area.

Quando omni flunkus moritati... ;D

Another GUY,

I think you stubled on a GOOD idea for "i" .

Maybe first "US" Canadian shows or English shows.

I love "The Vicor of Dibley". It is nt around much these days.

Didn't "The Partridge Family" run for four seasons?
