I admit it - The TV Guide Channel is Worthless

I'm finally gonna admit that the TV Guide Channel is worthless. Why? Because the one in my area has been stuck between channels 63, 64, and 65 since 11:40AM this morning. Meanwhile their idiotic programming at the top of the screen is running as usual.

What is on those channels in your area?

I find my TV Guide channel to be just as useless. Half the time there's glaring errors all over the place.

You think that's bad...

While I've seen that happen a few times, in the 80's we had a Cable Channel in Los Angeles that featured AP,UPI, one of those News Wire services. One day it was spitting out News that was over 6 Months old!. Still trying to figure that one out?

63 is Bravo.
64 is HBO.
65 is Cinemax.

However COX doesn't let anyone subscribe to HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime if they dont have Digital Cable, so 64, 65, and 66 a waste of space.

Wouldn't it be better if THEY admitted they are worthless?
______________

FOX probably knows it's worthless too, but won't dump it until EVERYONE gets a digital box with the TV Guide built into it. In the meantime they still sell advertising and infomercials on it and it still gets people without guides to tune in for a good chunk of the day.

In the next 18 months it will probably turn into a true entertainment channel like E! or maybe FX2. It might also be where the proposed FOX Business News Channel might appear on or the proposed national Fox Sports Channel (not the regional FSN's), which they want to rival ESPN.

I agree with you though, it does suck, especially Joan & Melissa, they make me want to vomit!!!

It is now, but back in the day it was the place to turn to see whats good on next. In this day and age we don't need it. Today many people have digital cable which gives you info to see whats going to be on next without even flipin the channel to see whats on. But hey I still use it a little as I don't have digital cable.

The TV Guide channel is horrible! They're making it into a regular glamour(sp) entertainment channel. Occasionally the TV guide is stuck for as much as 2 or 3 days. It is no use to me anyway now because I have the cable box system with the guide built in.
______________

Maybe it was repurposing material as "News Wire Classic."

That is funny!

Why I use The TV Guide Channel

There are 3 reason I use the TV Guide Channel:

1. We don't have digital cable at my house.
2. We don't have cable internet so it takes for ever to load the dial-up, otherwise I'd use TV.YAHOO.COM or ZAP2IT.COM
3. The TV Guide that comes with the Sunday Newspaper we buy is like just as worthless as the real TV Guide. Daily listings are in grid format. Most channels just say Various Programming. Overnight listings are the same way. Saturdays and Sundays don't have listings before 12Noon. Saturdays and Sundays don't have overnight listings.

You think TV Guide Channel is useless....

.....on cable TV, try it on DirecTV. It's hard to follow and has no relative purpose with the "guide" selection on the remote giving the listings for the next 90 minute period. TVG channel has now become the poor-man's E! television. Expect the listings on the TV channel to disappear just as they will in the print editions.
