FSR and the guy who goes "just a bunch of guys, talking sports." please get rid of that!

Also add this gem:

MALE V/O: "Just a bunch of guys..."
FEMALE V/O: "...and a few girls..."
MALE V/O: "...talking sports and having fun!"

Not to mention that same female V/O constantly saying "Intense! In-depth! Interactive!"

Does FSR have an insecurity complex or what?

Now add to the fact that today for their pm drive show they include in their top of the hour rejoin, a reference to "Danica (Patrick) playing with the pole" referencing her winning the pole position for her race on Sunday. Gee, a guy wins the pole in Nascar, F1, and IndyCars every race, but we don't hear about how they are playing with their pole. Their incessant need to act like they have everything covered so much better than everyone else and their constant chipping at "the four letter network" is tiresome. At least the four letter network on TV and radio are part of the same company, not just some limited contract arrangement with a namesake.

And weren't they ridiculing the "four-letter network" a little over a week ago because FSR allegedly scooped them on the "end" of the NHL lockout, which was going to be announced last Tuesday? Oops! Sorry, Asswood, another in a LOOONNGGG line of missteps, I guess. But hey, kudos to FSR for sponsoring that Extreme Sports Fest, or whatever the hell they keep touting. I'm sure ratings will go through the roof with that nugget!
Edited by screamformelong on 07/05/05 07:56 PM.

The problem with FSR is

On Danica Patrick and the pole, the one thing about a FOX Sports TV female anchor is that they tend to be models (Lisa Guerrero, Lisa Dergen, etc.). I often say they couldn't get jobs at ESPN because they are TOO attractive.

But unless you're going to have a show where Jenna Jameson talks love and sports, you can't be a sex symbol on the radio. And that's how FSR tries to portray their female personalities- such as Krystal Fernandez.

One of the early staples of the network was interviewing porn stars. It was catering to the lowest level of "guy talk" and while I'm not totally against it (Tony Bruno really did it well, but he does just about everything well) it seems FSR can't get out of that rut, be it these really boorish references about Patrick or the "B" level comics they put on the air posing as talk show hosts.

My problem with FSR is

FSR is a joke, and no doubt will die within a few years if satellite radio doesnt reverse its flagging fortunes.....the only thing salvageable from this wreck is the "First Team"....good example of entertaining east coast sportstalk...the main problem i have is how all of FSR's promos promise "in-depth", "intense" coverage of sports and when they go back to the shows the hosts usually ridicule those who actually do want to talk x's and o's....
