Once again, I am stuck on BBC Radio 1. If only Sirius had more BBC channels, how great it could be! And I finally heard the Ercola song, too. September has another one as well. I think I'm liking the Calvin Harris one, but none of them really more than the Alesha Dixon, so I guess that means I'm still a bit stuck on my rhythmic r&b/pop side of things. I also first discovered Iglu & Hartley "In this city" on Radio 1. A lot of stuff I probably wouldn't know if it weren't for Radio 1. They also need to get 1xtra on Sirius so when I have the t.v. on, I could have that channel on my cable as well. It was last year at this exact time I got hooked on BBC for the first time. Somehow, now I'm back again. I think it was Alesha that did it, with the help of Calvin. They also do a good amount of mix shows with drum & bass, bassline, house, some grime, and other things, and this is just Radio 1 by themselves. Why can't we have radio stations like that here?

On American radio, we have multiple shows that really do nothing but repeat a majority of the same stuff we already get all day, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. If anything stands out, it's usually viewpoints!

BTW, Saturday night Capital Radio has 8 full hours of Dance music starting at SIX PM. The mixshows start even earlier on Choice and Kiss.
 
"Beautiful" is doing A LOT BETTER than I had ever imagined! I never realized how right I was when I said "if a song like that is done correctly, it could work.." back in 2006. I didn't even know "beautiful" made it to the UK! I'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves! Hopefully this inspires people to make more hits like this, NOW THAT THEY KNOW it can successfully be done, even in the U.S.

We need more Ne-yo - closer type songs as well periodically just to remind people that "techno" can be appealing to a wide variety of people and come in many different forms. The younger crowd is probably used to it, but we haven't completely had a generational change yet, so we still need to "keep being a tad slick" and doing things in such a way that people don't realize they're getting into dance music. Eventually, we should reach a point where we can smoothly transition to more "real" dance making top 40 in the U.S. on a NATIONWIDE scale.
 
Thats what I have said about getting the younger generation that is transitioning from the Radio Disney stuff over to CHR, but not quite into the thugged out hip hop yet... We need to take the term TECHNO and burry it some where never to be found again, cause everyone over 10 yrs old associates techno with Nerd Music and thinks of robotic computer generated sounds... In fact even calling it dance music, house, or trance doesnt make sense to most average people.... We need a new name for it that they can understand, but sounds cool and makes sense,,, now what that is, I dont know???? Jumpstyle/Hardstyle makes sense and sounds cool, but only covers one sound,,,, Kids dont know why its called house music because they dont know its origin of being started by Frankie knuckles at the Wharehouse in Chicago....Try explaining that to a group of highschool freshman and see how many stairs,,, and lack of interest, and people napping with their heads on the desk....,,, Trance makes some sense, as does Drum N Bass etc,,, but still only covers a small spectrum of Dance music in general. Calling it Electronic music or simply Electro makes some sense and covers a broader range,,, but does it sound hip??????

OK... Back to the UK.... London especially has many dance, and dance friendly outlets... BBC 1,,, BBC xtra...Kiss 100,,, Choice FM for hip hop and some dance... Capital 95.8 as Chrles says plays lots of dance on weekends, and some in rotation... You also have Shine 87.9.... Point Blank fm 90.2..... Passion 91.8... House FM 88.6. Unknown FM 90.6-108 .....Galaxy Digital on DAB I think... 104.7 Sub Jam FM There are many Pirate stations in London,,, most are dance oriented,, but im only listing the ones that seem to manage to run 24/7,,, and Behave Themselves... Also.... Im not mentioning other non London UK pirates, or Web Only stations, or the other KISS and Galaxy network for the rest of the UK... Ireland used to have a few dance stations, but I think they have all since moved to full fledged CHR or Adult top 40....
