With you I find everything odd, including your choice of poorly designed AM radios from Asia in the 1960's. What were the "makes" of the radios?

In the US, we used brands like GE, RCA and Zenith. I know it's not Samsung, but we made it work.
 
Well I'm not quite sure it's "unconstitutional" for the FCC to have a say in radio formats (I can't find the part about radio formats in the Constitution), they DON'T "have a dog in that fight". If that's your basis for complaining to the FCC about a station...that their format is somehow "unique", "valuable", and "must be protected from a format change" (as listeners of classical stations have claimed through the years), then you're going to lose every time.
