If it makes money, then it's not wasting any signals. Remember, radio is a business, not a hobby.beachguy3b said:At the risk of pointing out the exceedingly obvious, 92.9 is not going talk, but sports.
Waste of an FM signal...

don't you know the rules?
if the poster doesn't like sports, and the new station is sports, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't speak spanish, and the new station is spanish, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like Urban, and the new station is Urban, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like news radio and the new station is news radio, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like jazz, and the new station is jazz, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like country, and the new station is country, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like CHR, and the new station is CHR, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like AC, and the new station is AC, then it's a waste of a signal.
if the poster doesn't like oldies, then the world as we know it has come to an end.

WCNN and WGST and even WGUN put out a good day signal--all of them are 50k days. At night, though, WCNN has a nasty pattern, WGST goes down to 1000W, and WGUN is a daytimer with fleapower at night.BarryATL said:beachguy3b said:... There is only one AM signal in Atlanta that has decent coverage and that is WSB-AM. It is the only full market AM signal there is at night. Since day signals in the winter are only from 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM, that pretty much kills drive time for a couple of months. There are no AM night signals that come anywhere close to covering the market other than WSB-AM. In this market, that is the driver for putting spoken word on FM.

It's easy to flip to a music format without announcing it beforehand, and then run 10,000 songs commercial free while your sales weasels and headhunters do their thing. Live spoken word, not so much.agentUrge said:Out of curiosity....is it common practice for a station to announce to the public that they will flip formats like that?
It just seems odd to me...I think every station that i've ever seen flip formats has done so with out formally announcing it.
Another thing: how long has Dave After Dark been running? Is it new or is this something that's been running a while?
