I bet you will here Nickel Back Animals, and Feel Good Inc and a Nirvana Song in the 5pm hour on the buzz. I noticed everyday they play the same songs in the same time slot. Are they even looking for a new PD? Rumor has it they are going to do something else very soon. I wonder what? Anybody know anything?

obviously you are not looking at the same 5 o'clock hour i am. i don't see any of those songs in the 5pm hour. not to be all "english teacher" on you, but the context in which you used the word "here" should actually be spelled "hear"... sorry i couldn't resist.

why would you need to look for a new PD? Lets see 1.8 that ought to tell you something right there. and the fact that nobody does a live shift. Ok I will eat crow those songs did not play, but how do I know if they were supposed to play and you changed it? ;D Oh well something I noticed on Media Base that they play Nirvana, Nickel Back, and that awful Feel Good INC song. every day during the week at 5pm. I heard a rumor at a luncheon in Dallas last week don't know if it is true so I am not going to tell it.
 
I think there's some buzzards buzz'in around the buzz.

so out of curisoity i went back over the logs in the last week and a half and saw nickelback show up 1 time in the 5 oclock hour and nirvana 1 time... gorillas did show up 3 times but thats over a week and a half...

why do you hate the buzz so much...?...it take alot of energy to hate that bad??

Its just is sad to see rock stations do poorly. It usally is the person thats in charge of programing thats at fault. In this case it is Corbin. Z104.5 was low to until Rock 102.3 went away, he got a boost there and then left. Barreda was good at what he did on there. I remember 95X well Mike McCoy was the PD there and he did good, Duane at KDGE does good, Ken Wall Tulsa, Kristen at KQRA Springfield MO. KPNT St Louis does very well also. Why is it that its a 1.8? KQSR was a 3.2 when they killed it off. Is The Buzz fixable? Yes it is. How can you fix it? reimage the station, pull a K107 in Oklahoma City.
 
Ok I had to comment here about this. I am sure you love it when I come on here, but come on, you have to know that I think this is funny. haha I predicted this would come true when I got fired back in June. Infact I made bets on it with a few employees at CC. CC is a good company I will admit that much. People say things bad about them when they have never worked for them, but I can say they do have some good people running it these days including OKC. I have alot of good stories about that place, from Sleeping on the couch during the overnight to working from 5am until after a concert at 11pm and do it the next day all over again. A reimage might be necessary, but the Buzz basically serves as a alternate channel to switch to when the KATT goes to commercial break.

What exactly does the Buzz want to be? Another Active Rock station? An Alternative Rock station? A 90s Rock station? A Sports station? It also doesn't help the Buzz's cause that there are only a handful of decent new rock acts, and those bands have mostly mediocre material at best. It's really difficult to be loyal to a station with no identity.

Few Local Jocks = No Station Personality.
 
I say relaunch as 95x and take the station to mainly 90s gold alt. music. The new slogan can be "95x, You're TRUE rock alternative of the 90s and more is back!" They'd fair a lot better IMHO flushing the stink of "The Buzz" by re-launching as 95x since the idiot has made "The Buzz" synomonous with corporate dribble and indy rot.
 
Well my good friends The Buzz has a saving grace and his name is Jeff Blackburn AKA Jrod. I get the feeling we are going to see some big time changes for the better coming VERY soon. Although I think Lacey would be better at nights do to the fact people know who she is. However I don't care to much for the MD but she will do good in afternoon drive. Bill and Tom made a good choice there picking Jrod that is no doubt about it. Congrats Jeff you should have been the guy all along.

Well Since I don't work there anymore I don't really know, but I can say is I know Jeff, and I know he will have to make changes, and I know how he thinks. I promise it's going to sound like The Buzz like it did once before. Trust me you will want to listen.

Ooooh, I just bet the Katt will be shaking in their boots over a top forty dj trying to salvage a crappy "rock" station that has no chance of making any impact other than continuing to bore listeners to death. Tom and Co. could have named a chimp to get the same forthcoming results. You see, when you don't actually understand what it takes to create a good rock station this is what happens. Jimbo didn't get it (those high early numbers due to initial excitement faded fast), Corby didn't do anything but harm, and now this? And don't tell me how it's all gonna be different because J-Wod really knows his stuff. Even if he did it wouldn't matter. Drop it in and press it down, the Buzz is toast...and good riddance to bad radio.
 
I think someone is Mad KJYO is like what number 1 in the CHR war? Do you remember MO? I think he was beating The KATT and they were scared if I remember right. I just want to sit back and watch and see what happens here. This could get interesting to say the least. Although I do listen to Tony Z at night because he is a good jock and has a good night show and is a good guy.

What does gay-j 103 have to do with how bad the Buzz continues to suck, Ryan? Mo was grating and ultimately self-destructive (taco mayo anyone?). I guess Ryan is championing J-Wod in hopes of getting back on there, but I think it's pretty clear to see that "multitasking" J-Wod into this PD position is just a means to an end as Tom Travis' superiors decide what to make him do with that signal next. If they were serious at all about success, then why shuffle yet another top 40 jock with no rock cred (see: Joe "I've really always wanted to play Nine Inch Nails, not Tiffany" Friday) over and make him keep his current morning gig, plus do mid-days? It's obvious they have no intentions of winning. Not to mention that Crystal is a bad choice for afternoons, voice androgeny is not a good characteristic for a radio jock. Neither is being boring, which she is. But it's probably not her fault, it must be hard to sound interested in the crap she has to play. Which brings me to the guy they have voicetracking nights: Jay. More robotic liner reading, emotionless delivery and a weak voice. Does anyone on the 11th floor even have balls?! Or is it a requirement that Cheap Channel takes those along with your brain, heart, and soul when you sign in blood on the dotted line? So many questions. Soon enough the Buzz will grind to it's inevitable end and be replaced with...who cares? Then the Katt will re-assume it's pathetic role as the only outlet for new rock in this town that is supposedly known for loving music. Just to be fair I hate the Katt and everything it stands for. And Tony Zzzzzzz? Really, Ryan? Have you ever actually heard a good rock jock?
 
Ok No static I do agree about the Crystal deal 100% her girlfriend and I had a run in at a bar in Norman last night. I have you know they looked like a**holes in front of there staff when I told them who they were and what they did, I am glad to see Hurley has classy talent like her ;D. Yes I have heard a good Rock Jock MO was one of them, Jrod is really more of a rocker guy then CHR. I would not mind working for Tom Travis or Bill Hurley or Jrod, or Barreda. They showed me things in the radio biz that no one else would, and for that I am VERY thankful. I still like Bill Hurley and have a ton or respect for him and Tom and I wish them guys nothing but the best. I did not like it when they hired Corbin the first thing I thought when I saw him was he is a flop. and what happend? yeah what I predicted 1.8. I know it's is hard to believe but I do wish him well back in Tulsa. yeah we remember Taco Mayo what about it? I am with Kramer you need a hug. As for Tony Z he must be doing something right he has his own night show.

I'll have to say I agree with you sir on your points. KATT isn't a great rock station. Unfortunatly, it's the ONLY rock station, and will continue to be the only rock station because Crap Channel won't let anything happen at 94.7. Crap Channel isn't interested in promoting creativity and Crap Channel won't take the risks needed to forge a great rock station. In addition, they won't throw the money at it to get good talent either. J-Rod is a talented guy, but trying to do mornings AND run the buzz will wear him down quickly. At best we'll hear a slight improvement on the music there with MAY result in a 3 share. At that point it might be sellable enough to muddle on down the road and continue for a few more years. Don't look for the Buzz to be anything more than a overglorified cookie-cutter Crap Channel attempt at rock and you won't be dissapointed.

You're right Okcradioguy, but I don't think J-Wods "talent" matters much unless he's a freakin' magician, 'cause that's what it's gonna take to get listeners back to that signal.

By the way, I didn't mean to be rude to anyone earlier I am just really tired of mediocrity being the norm and it getting respect around here.

It's this damn corporate structure that weighs so heavy on everyone and limits their potential.

But then again some just don't care enough to try harder to do better.
