I can still hear their voices...

Each year we loose a few master broadcasters. This is somewhat the R.I.P. of the control roon chair: Bill Walker, my friend, and fellow broadcaster of 30+ years, died in April of 2004. Mark Sanders, the best 7p-12m guy that WANS ever had. I did not know Steve Criss, but we were aquaitences. His production skills were a litmus test to how it was done! James Irwin: I am considered a good comedy writer, but on my best day, I couldn't kiss his shoes. Scott Shannon (James Frith), he done it all, after returning from Nam. Coyote McCloud: Maybe the best there ever was!
Anyone wanna add to the list?

Great to see you on here Scooter Lesley!!! I remember listening to you doing "The Midnight Tracker" on WCKN-FM Rock 101.1 back around 1988. I have airchecks of you playing a Grank Funk Railroad Album and talking about a concert they did in Greenville in the 1970`s!!! You said that Mark Farner had a big shiny guitar-LOL!!! I last remeber you on WBFM-FM "The Great 98" out of Seneca, SC. You tool over their morning show in early 1994 and replaced Russ Cassell!! Can you share some old Rock 101 and WBFM airchecks on here??? Do you have any of the jingles also?? Thanks!!

There is still a big hole in the Columbia radio community from the loss of Mike Scott, Gene McKay, and Dave Rogers, among others.

I agree with all of these. You can add Bob Fulton in there as well. I believe JJ Jaxson also passed.

I guess I didn't want to remember those two...I suppose because "remembering" makes it real...too real. Sad. Add to that list Mixin' Dixon, Dwayne Ward and Jack Boston of WKZQ(among other stations) and Tom Brockway(of several stations in the Pee Dee).

I was thinking the very same thing about voices from the past here in Columbia that have gone on. I had forgotten about Mike Scott and definitely grew up listening to Gene McKay and Dave Rogers on the old WIS 56.

I like change in a lot of ways but I still hate when I loose touch with the past. No matter what any body says when the radio personality's you know and or relate to leave or pass away it leaves a personal gap in a peice of your life, mostly the memories everyone has when you heard that special DJ just at the right moment that made you stop and really listen.

....I do miss Buddy Carr, Dick Shannon & Charlie Foxx on WBBQ back in the day.... Also Dave Hensley on WGUS....
