I cant believe no one has mentioned Pulse 87's new PD

Thats great news, and good for the possibility of lots of Dance getting played. I cant wait till they launch the station, and eventually start streaming. I might have to take a road trip to nyc just to hear the station. Ive done things like that before.

This is great news. Joel was one of the few that pioneered the sound of traditional "Rhythmic/CHR" radio. Looks like we will soon be able to add New York City to a growing list of dance friendly Rhythmic/CHR markets (such as Miami, San Francisco, and Long Island). Let's hope this trend continues! Phil Michaels-Trueba, are you still out there?

Thats what I last read Chrles, hopefully someone like Brett or JP would know for sure. ???

Phil has been the PD at WHQT (Hot 105) in Miami for about 2 years now. I don't believe that he's still programming for Promo Only but I could be wrong about that.

As for Pulse, it's very interesting. I cannot receive the signal in my Manhattan office (I do get it in my car) yet I believe I can get it out by my house in Long Island. It's hard to tell because it's all in Russian and I haven't heard any legal id's (in English) on the station.

Just how far a signal does a LPTV station throw out there? Could they have mulitple LPTV licenses to cover the metro and beyond?

Last night the signal was bombing in out by Seaford in Long Island. This morning there was a lot of static with a mix of someone talking in Russian and a country tune fading in and out. This is all quite interesting to me.

They are quite the trendsetters.

The Country station was most likely U.S 88...... A Conservative Right leaned Pirate Country station in Jersey... Ive read reports on it. Have you guys ever heard Streetz 96 on 96.5,,,, Its like the unofficial 3rd Hip Hop station in nyc, but they do play some Dance..... I dont support Streetz 96 though because their signal interfers with the local Class A on 96.3.

Without a doubt, the hire of Joel Salkowitz to Pulse 87 is the most promising for dance music fans such as myself. Hot 103 and Hot 97 had great ratings with Joel on the helm. While I am expecting Pulse 87 to be more CHR oriented than a dance station, just the fact that Joel is there will give the station a more dance friendly sound to it. Pulse will NOT sound as stale at 'KTU currently is and have a lot more to the table with dance music than Z-100...whose only spin of a dance artist is Cascada.

It should be a VERY interesting and exciting Monday...February 11th!
