I Could Fall Asleep Waiting For The Pages on This Board To Change

I don't know who keeps this board running (I DO know that the person named Lance does not return his emails nor appear to care anything about this board), but it has slowed to a disgusting crawl (I have a high speed DSL here and it takes almost as long as a dial up connection for the pages to flip).

I know that at least one moderator of the Buffalo/Rochester board checks in once in a while. Can you please roust Lance or whoever from his/her stupor and get him/her to do some technical work on this site?

Thanks.

ZZZZZZ - snort - WHA?

Questions regarding operation of the site should be posted on the "Ask Radio-Info" board. If you check that out, you'll find several discussions regarding the technical aspects that affect the speed of the board.

I can save you the trip by noting a couple of things:

1. You get what you pay for. It's a great board for free.

2. The speed of the site could be increased significantly with large monthly infusions of cash. If you've got a fat wallet, fork it over and speed can be increased significantly.

I don't have any problem with the speed of the board, probably because I don't use a dial up connection. the real problem with this board are moderators that sit there waiting to pounce on any post that they can delete for whatever reason. There have been some decent posts that didn't warrant deletion and a ton of crap posts that were left on here taking up space. Some of these moderators need to relax a bit and get a life. It's like they sit there with nothing better to do than see what they can delete today no matter what it is.
I am sure this post will be deleted within 24 hours. The real speed here is post deletion. Why would I send money for that? The number of posts went waaayyy down in the last 2years and very few do it now. I have my thoughts as to why.

Give us an example, Joey. I'm a longtime user of this board. And the only deletions I see are of posts by that "freak show" who allegedly owns WJJL. And I think that just improves the board. So, before making unsubstantiated statements, I'd like to see some specific examples of a legitimate discussion on this board being deleted.

On one occasion, I asked the moderators to delete a post from someone who was unnecessarily rude, obnoxious and added nothing to the discussion. But I would argue that most of use want a board where we can disagree without beings jerks about it. For instance, I disagree with you, Joey, and am asking for examples of posts being deleted. But I'm not personally attacking you for your views.

I will echo Roxalot's comments. Someone is paying for this board. And it ain't us. So, I just don't think it's right to criticize people who are shelling out money for bandwidth when they really don't have to be doing this. Just my two cents!

To echo further...where is the "Please visit our sponsors" link...and why isn't it on all the screens that include the words "always tuned in".

ALSO NO ads by google or whatever...

Thank-you to all who have managed to provide this site at no cost to us, and with no beg to click messages.

OK, OK- you all make your point!
I just have a major problem with this Lance guy who is the tech director for Radio Info and doesn't answer his emails. If you're going to be in charge of something this vast, at least have the courtesy to send out auto-generated replies to email!

As for why people are tuning out in droves (to use an old radio term), maybe we should have a separate thread on that topic. I, too have an idea or two...but overall I think the board is much better off now.

as in the poster formerly known as desi bell.

It's probably server load. We're at a war over Air America (again) in the News/Talk forum and it's sucking all the resources. :)

Re: ZZZZZZ - snort - WHA?

We all have lives; Lance included. That may explain why you do not receive replies.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by bw on 10/05/05 08:41 PM.</FONT></P>

Wow-sounds like the news/talk forum is the place to be for action and excitement!

Yeah, but...(yabut)

All well and good, but I should point out that you guys (the monitors of this board) got back to me right away (thanks). Your suggestion: contact Lance.
And round and round we go...
