I Didn't Want To Believe It At First, But Now I Know...

...that Dan Frishberg is absolutely off his rocker! You are not going to believe what brilliant move BizRadio has made now.

DAMN! I just talked to Brent yesterday via email, and not a word was said about this. Let me tell you guys something...Brent is a CLASS ACT and was a joy to work for at BizRadio. He often was the only Voice of Reason between the Dallas operation and an impulsive, uncompromising owner. He was perhaps the only true radio person within that operation, and they depended heavily on him to figure out all the nuts and bolts on every level. If you've kept up with Brent's blog over time, you know he's battled cancer and has had a LOT of ups and downs, way more than any 40-something should ever expect to deal with...and he's worked many times when he was too ill, and I can recall many drives he made back and forth between Houston and Dallas when he was in no physical shape to do it...just to keep the Dallas operation running.

This is truly BizRadio's loss, and Brent will surely land on his feet. I wish him all the best.

I echo Mike's sentiments exactly. Working just down the hall from Brent, I was able to observe the gentleman in action on a whole bunch of occasions. Brent is a true "broadcaster" in a world where true broadcasters are hard to find. Brent could (and did) jump-in when, and wherever, needed and did what had to be done. Any job around the place, and Brent could do it. He was the "backbone" of the broadcast operation. Nobody else in the building has the talent, or ability, to do what Brent did on a daily basis. No matter what department...engineering, programming, copy/continuity, production, on-air, sales, promotions, public affairs, public service, news/traffic...whatever...Brent had it all under control and knew exactly what was going on at any given time in Houston and Dallas. He was also up-to-speed on any activity in several other markets where BizRadio was considering offices/studios.

On top of all this...Brent is a great guy, a knowledgable/entertaining on-air talent, wonderful to work with...and I think he absolutely hung the moon. You are correct Mike, Brent will land on his feet...and whoever gets him, will be blessed to have a guy like this on staff.

Brent...God Bless You. I'm sure you are probably breathing a little easier today. After all, you're not having to answer to anyone anymore that doesn't have a clue as to how a broadcast operation should, and could, be run.

Brent Clanton is "Bizradio".HE NOT DAN F.OR HIS "MAID" made the Bizradio Network. Brent is a "Will Rogers " of the 21st century but in reverse, once you met him, you liked him a lot!! I hope ( I know a pipe dream) that advertisers on Bizradio pull out, and allow their contracts expire, and that word spreads out so they may never ever have a single advertiser left. We can dream cant we? Any radio station and network would do well to hire Brent, even Public Relations Firms. He is that good!!
I hope Shivaugn, ED "promotion through asassination",Dan F.The Pluto of Radio"and his His "Manila Monster" find that failure is a close relative of theirs, without TRUE leadership. Maybe Shivaugn will have a "brainstorm".
Brent Clanton, a true orignal, well like, well respected, humble, and one of the finest broadcasters in the state of Texas. Brent will and on his feet. I hope Danny's severance pkg is generous ..oh wait we are talking about Dan here. The economy is in a weakened state and it just got weaker without Brent Clanton's insight. Dan is muscling into Vince Rowes territory by hoping to open a stock trading school of his own in Ft.Worth. I wonder if Vince will be let go?..AGAIN. Dan also wants a coffee shop locale for "his" studio in FTW. Maybe it will be next to a natural gas well, then Dan would feel right at home.
I noticed Matt Cox left the sales mgr in Dallas "Left on his own". I guess he went to work for a respected company.

Brent Clanton, radio just lost another one, and there ain't much left in a soon to be dried out vaccuum. Best wishes my good friend.

Just to echo the previous sentiments: Brent Clanton is a prince of a guy and a top-notch radio professional. In my opinion, he was the ONLY radio professional in the whole Biz Radio organization with the exception of Buddy Cantu whom, I'm guessing, never had much of a say in how things worked. Big mistake...............BIG.....BIG....MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! ???

Ditto Buddy Cantu is a great guy. condolences to him for working for "Ziegfried of KAOs"..MAYBE COL KLINK, either one fits Dan..Cruella daVille fits his maid. Buddy get out while you can, Bizradio is the Titanic of Broadcasting.

Ditto on the previous posts. Brent is a class guy who will definitely land on his feet, running nonetheless!

Good luck to you Brent and keep us all informed on where you end up. When one door closes, another always opens up.

a plague be cast on the biz folks. Brent call me sometime. You are one of the people I most respect in this business and I'd love to visit with you like we used to in P2.

Brent's a great guy. Has been ever since I met him briefly when he was at KRAV in Tulsa. Best wishes on him finding someone who appreciates his talents.

And the same here....knowing that place very, very well, I too was aghast when I got word Monday that Brent had been let go (along with two others). It was a housecleaning that day, and not a good one. More changes are in store. Doug Roach, another former KPRC person, has been made operations manager, and I wish him much luck.

Texas Tuner-who else got let go that day? :-[

Brent Clanton, Brenda Chaney (a PR person) and another person whose name I don't recall (I think he was a sales rep of some kind).

Wow, Brent AND Brenda? Both had been there a long time. Both very nice people. Hope they land on their feet and get good jobs somewhere else.
