I give DFW radio an "F" for July 4th

None of the urbans did a mix weekend, the other formats I checked out was just doing regular programming. Come on market #5. We have to do better!

I guess it's hard to be original when you're voicetracking and automated. Truly sad.

I thought things are supposed to improve with time. Guess I was wrong.

Live, Local and doing the North Texas Top 500 Countdown for 2010 on KLUV. And 20 contests to win family 4-packs of water park tickets. Oh...and don't forget the soundtracks from the Grapevine fireworks at 9:30 last night, and from Fair Park at 9:30 tonight. You're right. No effort here.

That's sad. Out of all the stations in this market, only one did something? Wow..

And I'll say it again: No there was no 800 number for contests, and with the exception of our regular syndicated shows, every local shift was live.

I heard "Jack" of Jack FM say: "It's 4th of July shouldn't we be playing a countdown or rock blocks? Oh well" That sums up DFW radio on the 4th.

KEOM played a patriotic song every hour, Sunday (12a - 12a); and aired the Mesquite fireworks soundtrack live on Saturday night. (with two live human beings in the studio)

(not to mention, we are the only station that plays the National Anthem EVERY day, 365 days a year)

I'm not sure how you limit the F to just one day out of the year.

I'm just talking about July 4th. I actually do it for Memorial Day, Labor Day, and New Years Eve. I just don't post it. I'm basically looking at the urbans. Urban radio is well known for doing some kind of specialty programming for those particular days.
