I got an HD Radio

I just put a Pioneer DEH-44HD in my van and I'm loving this baby. Stations I would have trouble picking up in my other vehicles come clear and in HD. So far I picked up the HD 2 channels on 93.3/FLZ, 94.9/Magic, 97.9/98Rock, 101.5/ Hot 101-5, 101.9/ 102Jamz, 103.5/ WFUS, 105.5/WDUV, 105.9/Sunny and 107.3/ The Eagle.

So far I liked the HD2 channel off of Sunny 105.9 the most, which is essentially O-Rock 105.9, the Oldies HD2 on WDUV isn't too bad either. Then my 3rd fav would be Star 101.5, strange hearing "Policy of Truth" next to Kelly Clarkson and Train but hey the music is on the spot.

I'm 68 miles from the Riverview Antenna farm and 75 Miles from the Orange City antenna farm. Why I'm I picking up the HD and HD2 off of these stations. All stations above I have trouble picking up on my other car radios. However on this radio even weaker stations are picked up in full HD clarity. The RDS on the radio even works with the stations which is a huge shocker.

Does it do well on the AM side for reception? (Not with HD, just in general.)

Thanks
Byron

Listen to Star 101.5-HD2 for a couple days... then you'll realize they haven't updated the music library in almost 3 years. VERY small number of tunes. 107.3-HD2 The Wave is a lot better.... but it's very obvious that Cox has these HD2s running on shuffle a locked closest that they've apparently lost the key too. Never understood why they didn't just take the Point's library and just shift that entire operation to the HD2 of 101.5 and trash "Star". I just don't get it. Most of the other stations like Clear Channel's Club Phusion, Pride Radio, and Thunder's classic rock format are simply re-transmissions of the iHeart radio format "lab" stations with local bumper IDs probably triggered by tones. BUT... nonetheless, it's nice to have commercial free alternatives without rigging up your mobile device.

If you're receiving the Orange City tower, I bet you're getting 107.7 too.

I wish The Point was on the HD2, however Star still plays some of their music.

I'll have to check the HD2 off of WMGF 107.7. I didn't scan to the HD2 but RDS did work on the HD1. The signal was quite choppy but I did listen to Thunder 103.5 earlier this afternoon and the sweepers are attacking other stations for playing "wimpy" music.

When I'm down south in Tampa I would have to try out this Trippin 102.5 thats on WHPT's HD2 channel.

BTW, 107.3's HD2 sounds a lot like WMMO if you ask me.

Unfortunately most of the HD2 stations that I can pick up in Manatee county have the same generic, boring and limited rotation that damn near every other station has... WHY can't someone add A LOT MORE MUSIC TO THEIR ROTATIONS ??? Even Sirius/XM have limited rotation on their decades channels...

OK so far , picked up WWBA 820, WRZN 720 as well as 1450 WWJB. All but WWBA were locals.

Hmm... Curious if WINK 1200 makes it's way into that radio?

Almost every FM in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Orlando & Sarasota are running HD. On AM in Tampa 620, 970, 1250 & 1380 are running HD. In Orlando 990 is running HD.

So, who do you think is winning Tampa's unreported Classic Rock battle?

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

Don't know about who's winning the Classic Rock battle. I'm 100 miles from WHPT's Sarasota transmitter, unless the tropo is good I'll have to be down in Tampa to pick up Trippin'. However I am quite enjoying the fact that I can hear Thunder again.

I have a new German car and the HD radio is sweeeeet! Bay area offers lots in the way of HD2 and HD3. I do have one complaint, er suggestion:

Dig deeper, take a chance and expand your playlists by a couple of hundred tunes.....
