I Got Sooo Sick Of.....

The title's self-explanatory:

.....Later episodes of Lost in Space centering around the antics of Dr. Smith, Will, & the robot. It got old real fast.

.....MASH's post-Radar era indulgence into moralizing, feminism, and trying to cram 1980's values and lifestyles into the early 1950s. I guess they forgot that they were supposed to be a sitcom.

.....The stupidity of Homer and the self-righteousness of Lisa on The Simpsons. I know it's a damn cartoon, but they put some real-life qualities into the characters and they, like real people, can be quite bothersome. I had to quit watching.

.....The Trix Rabbit never getting any Trix. I used to root for the rabbit to finally get Trix in the hopes that their commercials would stop being so stupid!

.....The cases on Perry Mason not being trials, but rather "preliminary hearings". I guess they didn't want to pay for 12 extras.

:mad:

TV shows that spread eight minutes of actual action out to 18 minutes of show time by constantly billboarding and rehashing what's coming up and what's already happened.

I got tired of the Simpsons after a couple years. It was obvious Homer was going to always be a dolt, and it would never have real consequences, for whatever reason. Bart should have been in jail dozens of times too.

I got tired of The Office because Michael Scott is a human-form Homer Simpson. Then the show hasn't been on long enough to come on six times a day between TBS and the local station, without getting repetitive.

Also, Seinfeld reruns. They've been on for 13 years now, twice a day on the local station and however many times TBS plays it. They never seem to resolve their issues either. NTTAWWT I guess, in its context.

...On some news broadcasts (Fox 10 Phoenix in particular) a few moments of news, then teasers, then a ton of commercials, then a few more moments of news, then more teasers (sometimes the same ones!) then another ton of commercials.....

...On some of the older sitcoms, when you thought there was going to be a major change in story or new character, things got set back the way they were by the end of the show. Thank God we have moved beyond that and stories can grow and change.

...The castaways almost getting rescued, but then....

But he did get the cereal on a few occasions such as the "Let The Rabbit Eat Trix" voting campaign. And once when he got a bowl and ate a spoonful then spilled the rest.

He's like the coyote and the road runner or Pepe LePew and the cat ;D

But to the extent that they featured Marta Kristen in that skin-tight silver space suit, they still managed to keep my attention! ;)

Despite featuring Guy Williams, one of my favorite old-time TV actors, I never watched this program because of the whiny Dr. Smith. He is one of a very few characters who compel me to hit the channel button the instant he appears.

It might have been the cost of extras (but then they always seemed to have plenty of people in the gallery) but I rather think an actual trial would have constrained the writers too much. They would have been forced to follow much closer the legal limitations of a formal trial. Compare the "Perry Mason" courtroom to "Law & Order" for instance.

The thing about "Perry Mason" I always noticed was that virtually every one of his clients seemed to have plenty of money. It was almost like watching an old soaper.

Oh, and why would a private eye like Drake run around in that loud sport coat?

Infomercials!!!

Amen and amen. I got sick of them when they started en masse, back in the late 1980s.

Oh c'mon, some infomercials can be fun :D Especially the one for the Magic Bullet. http://www.infomercial-hell.com/blog/ is a website you might want to look at.

The only infomercials I regard as "fun" are the ones for video or music collections (e.g. Dean Martin, Johnny Carson collection, Hee Haw). I can do without the rest with some exceptions (I used to enjoy the SMC infomercials with Tom Bosley in the late '90s).

.....TV Land becoming "Rosanne-vision" and "Everybody Loves Raymond-vision". They are both excellent shows but damn it so much Viacom, you have so many shows under your ownership.

Once unique channels such as TV Land turning to "reality" garbage. Now they're just like any other channel.

Thank you!

Reality shows have been run into the ground.

At least when westerns were run into the ground, television was still escapist entertainment.

Reality Show rock bottom will happen with the adaptations of "The Most Dangerous Game" or "The Lottery". Sadly, both will likely have ratings.

Or worse, "The Running Man". With Richard Dawson as host.

....kids (anyone under 30) telling me how "clever & witty" Family Guy is...it's not, It's a poorly-written, sophmoric, ham-fisted Simpsons knock-off..

there, I feel better now

Since that movie takes place just a few years from now, I won't be surprised if somebody actually tries it.

.....Mike Farrell's silly, no, stupid looking moustache on MASH;
.....Reality show results being part of local newscasts;
.....Whoopi Goldberg on every g-dammed network;
.....NBC's brutally unwatchable late 70s prime time programming;
.....Eight is Enough's Susan Richardson, one of the worst publicity whores of all time.
