"I Gotta Feeling".... a future commercial?

The first few times I heard "I Gotta Feeling" by PEB, I thought it was a commercial. Then I realized that commercials normally don't last 3.5 minutes.

The song has such a commercial feel to it; doesn't it sound like it was written by a commercial producer to be a commercial jingle?

Can't you see the unlimited potential of this song in a few months/years by Budweiser, Marriott or Trojan condoms ("I've got a feeling, it's gonna be a good, good night.... Bud Light.")

Anyway, it is hard to take a song seriously when they sing the days of the week ("Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....").

What a joke!

If it's a joke then it's a very successful one! The song's currently number one on Billboard's Hot 100, number one on the CHR/Pop Airplay chart, number one on the Itunes chart, Top 5 at Rhythmic CHR, number one in the UK, number one in Australia, Top 5 in Germany, Top 5 in Holland, number one in the French part of Belgium, number 2 in the Dutch part of Belgium, number one in New Zealand, number 2 in Austria, Top 5 in Brazil, number one in Canada.

I guess the Black Eyed Peas are laughing all the way to the bank.

There is nothing to their music anymore. They are living off of the fame they had already created. Their music has become completely shallow and temporary. I say it's time for CHR radio to give some exposure to other dance artists who are creating stuff way better than the mediocrity the Black Eyed Peas are putting out right now.

You mean to tell me that for 50+ years I was supposed to take songs seriously? Ah man!

Here is a tune from "If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears", by The Mamas & The Papas

And here is a tune that names every day of the week that is probably not supposed to be a real serious song:

It has been featured in a commercial....of sorts. I have heard the song featured in a promo for CBS primetime programming.

It is in a Target commercial.

The only 2 songs I take seriously are

1. Around the world - Daft Punk
2. Because I got high - Afroman

Yes, come to think of it does sound like a commercial. I remember back in the late 1980s many CHR songs sounded like commercials to me. "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship to name one of many examples.

Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue" is a Delta Airlines commercial (I don't date back that far,I just know a little bit of music even though I am a rock and roll type. Never hurts to know all music, or as much as possible).

"Rhapsody" is actually used by United Airlines since the early 1980's. I've long felt the campaigns on both television and radio have been great for United, despite using multiple agencies over the years.

Add one more to the "days of the week" song list here (from 1986): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDVzaTMF-ps

Chris Brown - Forever was actually a Wrigley's commercial. Of course, Wrigley's stopped claiming that when Chris Brown bit Rihanna.
