I guess Austin will have no weather on DTV -2 any more?

Just saw a note saying KVUE .2 will soon be a spanish network channel. About the only thing I watch on regular TV now is the weather. And look at the radar. Guess I'll just half to rely on the Internet and KENS 5.2-3.

I remember KVUE 24.2, when it came to tropo it was the only HD Weather Channel in Texas without news just radars. KXXV if you can get it is what I recommend 25.3 WXNOW

That's absolute CRAP on Belo's part. I hope they can't sell a single ad on the damned thing.

I won't be watching it no more. I remember when it first came back they did a full weather report and showed radar sweeps. I guess that will be gone soon.

I love weather as much as the next guy, but the Wx subchannels in Austin don't offer anything you can't get off the web. And on the web you can zoom in to the area where you are.

i got an email back from kvue, it doesn't appear that the weather radar is comming back. maybe keye can have a digital subchannel for the weather radar. they got the main ch keye hd1 , rtv on hd 2, may be a weather radar on hd 3.

KEYE's doing 1080i for HD. Wouldn't adding another subchannel cause the picture quality of the ''Retro TV'' subchannel to suffer?

The only real reason why I got a DTV converter was to be able to get some sort of local weather 24/7 since Direct TV does not have a local weather info on the weather channel. That is basically the only reason why I turn on regular TV any more. I might check out Retro TV every now and then. But I mostly watch DirectTV.

Fred, with absolutely no disrespect to KEYE's great engineers, I don't think RetroTV can take a 42-3 carving up its already small slice of the digital pie. The video on 42-2 is blocky already. Of course, 1080i takes a lot of bandwidth.

But ohhhhh....someone needs to fill this gaping hole left by the idiots that run Belo.

I heard co-owned KGW in Portland is planning to add weather back on an 8-3 as soon as they can get funding for the additional gear. It would be surprising for KVUE and others to not follow suit.

They should follow KGW's lead. This just ticks off folks and kinda cements KXAN's spot -- right or wrong -- as the station for weather. Not good for KVUE.

I thought KXAN had a radar sweep at one time or another and KNVA? I don't understand why they took those off?

Two letters -- E/I. At the time they were taken off, the FCC expanded their E/I requirements to be three hours a week per subchannel, not three hours per week per signal.

Never mind that many TV stations with weather or news channels have E/I content on them.

Like really a kid is going to wake up and tune to a all weather channel to watch E/I..? Come on FCC thats crazy.

There are 168 hours in a week and 3 hours is a burden to broadcasters?
Run a 30 minutes kids' show six days a week and you're there.

If KXAN would put WX back up on a sub channel and just needs someone to come in and switch over/push play to roll 3 hours of E/I a week, sign me up! I'll do it for free!

Don't forget KTBC. It has a subchannel that was put up for a couple of days for test purposes, then taken down. Unfortunately, that will take a decision from Fox corporate. Does anyone know how to get in touch with someone there that matters?

Or better yet, KTBC can sign on an independent station or snatch the My Network TV affiliation from KNVA and put it on their subchannel since that's owned by Fox. You think Fox would do something like that.

I'm glad Victoria TV Saga has no plans on changing the DTV programming. They have pretty decent DTV programming now. The only network missing is CBS. But they at least have a good weather radar sweep channel news and information. I can't believe Austin will have no more now. Fox in Victoria just launched "This TV" this week. on 11.3. (19.3)
