I Guess Finneran Isn't Leaving The Forum Anytime Soon...

"Former House speaker Thomas M. Finneran, host of a morning talk show on WRKO-AM, is bowing to pressure from the radio station's management and will abandon his plan to set up a Beacon Hill lobbying practice, says a source who was briefed on the decision.

Finneran's reversal is intended to end criticism that erupted after the Globe reported last week that he was signing up two lobbying clients, including the State Police troopers' union. Critics said that representing special interests at the State House would compromise the integrity of his show, which frequently focuses on state politics and issues..."

So much for that "vacation..."

Yes the Phoenix had heard about this yesterday but when I checked back to Don't Quote Me, he had yet to
confirm (Entercom hadn't called back yet). Someone on Free Republic said they were listening to a tape
of Howie's show from just before Finneran's debut and Howie was asking Finneran to swear on a Bible
that he wouldn't do any lobbying. The former Mistah Speakah refused to do so. Now it looks like his
effort to make some extra dough is gone due to the poss. of a conflict of interest.

Maybe he still will attend the wedding he was referring to, and maybe he'll still take the week off, but
he may have to get by on the paltry salary he's getting for the radio gig...much like Howie will have to
settle for his pittance of a salary. Oh the pain, the PAIN... (thank you Dr. Smith from Lost in Space
for that last utterance)

Any truth to the rumor that WTKK offered to pay Finneran to stay on the air at WRKO? They've got to be very happy. Finneran almost makes Imus sound good.
