I guess Ricker is gone at KISW..

..or maybe not. Anyone hear if there was a last sayonara broadcast or did Entercom just delete the guy from the website for the hell of it. One of those Friday afternoon, pink slip kind of things perhaps. KISW baffles me beyond beleif.

'Steve Rock' is the new 2 - 7 guy according to kisw.com. It's late, and I have been bored, browsin' the web tryin to find out anything. Nuthin, cept for ricker's old (now defunct) website (rickerlive.com).

Seems he's been given the boot.

Congrats to Steve Rock.

Without a doubt, I think he's been there for a number of years, plus he's a cool guy. I met him at one of the Metal Shop shows about a year or so ago, and was just really cool to the listeners and fans that were there. Plus he's totally into the music, it's not fake for him, he's really passionate about what the station plays.

Congratulations, Steve Rock!

I liked Ricker for the fact he acknowledged the stoner community every afternoon at 4:20 (like every afternoon jock should.)

But he seemed to have an ego that got the better of him and that was probably his downfall. Maybe he should smoke a bowl this weekend and ponder that. You CAN smoke pot without sounding like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle all the time.

I hope he finds himself back on his feet soon because I don't think his show or on-air personality was inherently BAD, but he could have cut the attitude overkill a little and focused more on the music...

As a guy he'd make me LMAO once in awhile but the whole slacker persona thing to his approach can be a little too much. KISW is trending down lately and is probably having trouble attracting female listeners. I don't care how pigeonholed these formats become, if you can't attract even a handful of babes to sample your Active Rock station then you're going to have issues. The funny thing is however is that they hired Ricker to be Ricker in the first place.

KISW is losing Stern and just let go of there highest profile locally based talent too. Is this a signal of a change of direction? And what about the "Rock Girls" thing too! The station is like the Hooters of Seattle radio and the whole scheme doesn't seem to really fit this market so to speak.

I agree. Tone it down.

The rumors are true... The Ricker was fired from KISW. Sources tell me that he let the old "F" word slip on the air, I guess they frown on that now a days :)

Congrats to Steve Rock... if that rumor is true.

One F bomb isn't gunna get you fired, is it? Though it could be the proverbial straw, I figure.

With all that has happened over the last couple of years, everyone working in radio knows...especially when you work for big company like Entercom, yes, one F bomb WILL get you fired. Everyone signs indecency policy statements that explain exactly what can happen.

It was his third strike.

F-Bomb #3 got him let go. He'd had 2 priors. It was either let him go, or go to bat for him against the FCC.

I am so glad they dumped that wanna be Pauly Shore. His jokes & Bits were lame (c'mon...chinese pizza? funny to an 8 year old...if that), his interviews were terrible, plus his ego came through on the air like a sore thumb. The guy sucked, it never made sense why KISW had him (hopefully they'll toss his "clone" Ryan Castle as well). I have to agree with prior posts--CONGRATS to Steve Rock. The guy sounds great on the air--he sounds like a fan of the music he is playing!!!! Good for him, I hope he stays right there.

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but it's no hype. Steve Rock is a good, good guy. He's a local, he put in his time at Green River and at KISW and sounds great. Big congrats...good local guy does well. He will indeed ROCK in the afternoon, and you're right, there's no act or pretense, he knows and loves the music and is his genuine self on the air, not some caricature.

Good job Steve!

Well this sucks.

I just saw the ad on allaccess for afternoons there and sent out a package. Arrggh...

But sounds like they got a good guy.

Congrats Steve, whoever you are, sounds like they got a great guy.

Three strikes and you're out, eh?

I dunno. He was very cool when I met him at the KISW Family Picnic. He seemed very professional when he was doing 'live' remotes and (BLEEP).

I feel for Ricker, but so agree with O.L. that his T.M.N.T. presence was beyond necessary. I believe he's a good guy and hope he lands on his feet. He was a personality in every sense of the word. He's just not my kinda personality. I don't know how many guys who listen to KISW identify with his stoner persona, I wasn't one of them. I love rock...but I felt as though Ricker "dumbed it down" quite a bit. His interviews were as insightful as a third grader.

I will reiterate that he is indeed a personality, and they are really hard to come by in this business. I sincerely hope someone sees how talented he is. Just because he wasn't my cup of tea, doesn't mean that I am necessarily a typical rock listener. Good luck, Ricker.

In this case, yes.

How does anyone know if there's any truth to any of this? What if he left or did it on purpose to get out of his contract? He sucks and either way, you can bet no one in the Seattle market will touch him now....

I guess this means that he won't be replacing Stern that was predicted by some knowitall. :)

No one knows if it's true besides the people involved - that's why radio-info.com exists - to mouth off about items we may or may not know about.
