I think it's the head at CC here, Sam Nein. Ever since the end of 2010 when Dan Diloreto retired, 620 dumped Whitney Johnson, went from a station that was mainly focused on caller-host interaction to primarily interview-based; so much so that they're even replaying interviews from previous shows. Sileo was canned (I have a theory about that in a bit), Pawlowski and Petuck left, and their imaging has totally been revamped; with Jim Cutler being replaced initally by Bob Schmidt, the FSR VO guy (when the decision was made that all FSR affiliates were going to imaged the same), but returning when ESPN returned to the station. Now, the Animal no longer exists...
There's been other notable changes since the end of 2010 that have been discussed ad nauseum on this very board, including the whole MJ/Todd Schnitt situation; I am of the opinion his departure isn't ENTIRELY his decision.
As for Sileo, the reason for his firing was cut and dry. You just can't say what he said that fateful morning in March, ever. However, what would drive him to say something that ridiculous? Maybe, just maybe, he saw the writing on the wall as to what was going on at CC and thought that the best way to leave that situation was to commit a figurative harakiri by saying what he did.
Of course, it's just a theory from a listener perspective and longtime fan of the biz, and I could be wayyyy off base, but at least I'm putting it out there...hopefully I'm wrong.
