Another minor thunderstorm in the SE Valley and KNXV is down again. No signal on any of my multiple antenna/converter box equipment.

It's still sunny behind the S. Mountain antenna farm.

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?!?!?!?!?!?
 
Isn't this where analog had the advantage, was able to work through storms?
 
Yes, to answer you question. In 30 years of living in the Valley and dozens of very severe thunderstorms I don't remember losing TV unless they had a power failure. But even light wind seems to affect DTV signals as mine were breaking up severely before the storm arrived. The towers are 8 miles to my west (clear line of sight) and the storm was arriving from the east. Should not have been an issue.

However, I think 15 was the only station affected. Tuning around after I posted most of the other Valley stations were on the air (I don't have all of them programmed so can't say for sure).

I have that problem with KTVK and KPHO if the clouds get too thick, and I'm 5 miles SE of the towers. The other stations stay in there, even the four Tucson channels I get, unless it's pouring down rain and I lose them as well.

Never had a problem with 15, though.

15's problem might be unrelated to the storm since the others were coming in (although pixelated and with drop-outs galore). Interestingly (or not) it happened identically on two different boxes on two different antennas (one big outside and one loop inside).

I'm going to have to watch more closely next storm. 61 was being hit hard at the same time 3 was not. I didn't notice any significant damage to 5's signal either. Out of 3,5,7,8,10,12,15 and 61, 61 is my weakest. None of the other Phoenix stations are scanned into my boxes.
